I'm going to be going in July, my second solo trip. I'm getting the Dining Add-on and I'm trying to figure out where to eat. I've never been to either of these restaurants and I would like to try one of them. I'm planning on taking a day off the parks so I will have 2 table services I can use for one of these 2 signature restaurant. Which one would you choose, if you have experienced both or either of them? (I like both fish and steaks) TIA :teeth:

we have dined several times at le cellier, but never at coral reef. i have read too many not too complimentary reviews on coral reef. lecellier has never disappointed us! the cheese soup is excellent. and the steaks are always cooked to perfection. hope this helps! :earboy2:

I would totally say Le Cellier! It is wonderful! I have not been to Coral Reef in many many years, and actually thought about it for April because I thought my 5 year old son would love it. I still think I am going to end up passing on it because it is so expensive.

The steaks and seafood are both excellent at The Flying Fish on the Boardwalk. That is our most favorite restaurant at Walt Disney World!!

Have a great time! :sunny:

We have dined at both and Le Cellier also gets my vote! They have great food – love their steakburgers and the cheddar cheese soup! – and service. Also, their pretzel bread is awesome! The Coral Reef is okay, but pretty expensive. The rest of my family really doesn’t like it, so we haven’t been there in a few years. Being able to watch the fish in the tank is fun, but some of the tables are placed very close together. If privacy is important, ask for a booth. Their seafood is excellent, but some of the other menu items are not executed as well. And I hear Le Cellier has wonderful desserts, but I am always too stuffed to indulge!

Another vote for Le Cellier, I had a steak and lobster tail combo with cheddar cheese soup, pretzel breadsticks and maple creme brulee in Jan and it was one of the best meals that I have ever had.

Yet another vote for LeCellier. Check some reviews from Coral Reef and it will probably make the choice easy for you.

We have eaten at both and probably won't go back to Coral Reef. The service was extremely slow. Coming from New England, the seafood was a let down and the prices were high for what we received. The setting is nice so if I went back it would probably be for drinks, appetizer and dessert. We can always count on Le Cellier for a great meal! princess: pirate: :earboy2:

Since you will have the dining add-on and price does not matter, I would strongly suggest the Coral Reef. Just the view of the tank alone is wonderful. Le Cellier, although good, is "just a steak house". Coral Reef is an experience.

I managed to convince my red meat loving family to go to Coral Reef a time or two many years ago. Now we just go to Le Cellier. :earsboy:

I vote Coral Reef.

Le Cellier has better food, but nothing that I can't get back home. Coral Reef, on the other hand has you dining next to a 5 million gallon tank (or however big) which I thought was really cool. Both are fun, though, so you can't really go wrong. It's just for a unique experience, I'd do Coral Reef.

LeCellier is the best. If you want really good seafood go to the Flying Fish by the Boardwalk Hotel. Their food is amazing.

I agree. It has been 13 or 14 years since my DW & I have been to WDW and neither of us are seafood people, but the experience at Coral Reef was wonderful.

Despite all the negative reviews I read on here about Coral Reef, we ate lunch there in February. We are so glad we did! We had a wonderful time!!! Good food, GREAT service, and INCREDIBLE atmosphere. We loved it so much, we kept commenting on how glad we were that we decided to give it a go. We're eating there again in May! :) ....We are also eating at Le Cellier in May . We've never eaten there before, it sounds great.

That is great to hear! We have a lunch PS scheduled for Coral Reef and I had been debating on changing it after reading not so great reviews. WE may go ahead and try it after all. We also have a PS for Lecellier - we have been there before and it is great! You will enjoy it! :sunny:

Personally we were very very disappointed with Coral Reef. The food wasn't that great to be honest. There are fish houses here in our coastal city that bring their catch in from the Gulf fresh daily and the Coral Reef just seems like the typical, lowsy frozen fish in my book. In fact, I think most fish houses have better food than this one. We eat there nearly every trip because the wife loves the atmosphere, yet she'll be the first to say the food is subpar. The price puts the knife in the steak so to speak. The price is just rediculous and it's obvious you are paying for atmosphere. Anyways, dont get offended anyone, that's just my opinion and most reviews that you will read will mirror what I say.

Le Cellier is "not just a steakhouse" like someone said. Sure that's what they serve, but if you go on food alone, then Coral Reef is just a SUBPAR fishouse. I think Le Cellier's atmosphere is GREAT! It's set below ground in a wine cellar and wow do they have the effect going on.

The service was great! Employees are from Canada and our waiter on every occassion has talked to us about his hometown and carried pictures with him to show us. They love teaching you about Canada. It's just so great. and personally there's nothing on earth so good as that cheese soup.

Well, just to let you know, we just made PS for March 22, for our anniversary about 10 minutes ago to where else but Le Cellier!

Le Cellier, hands down winner if you are looking for good food for the money. If you don't really mind wasting a little money in order to get a unique dining experience then head over to the Coral Reef.

Right. I agree.

I think that Coral Reef is a joke personally. However, I'm a fan of "dont take my word for it", try it yourself. for atmosphere alone you may want to do it at least once, and then if you hate it, then just dont go back.

Thank you all for your responses. I'm still undecided though. I'd like to get the good food which seems to be Le Cellier but I also would like to try something I wouldn't normally because of the cost, since using the plan money is no object. Decisions, decisions! LOL! Thanks and keep the reviews coming, I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions. TIA! :cool1:

Couldn't have said it better myself. :)

Myst

Coral reef seems to get a bad rap because .. well it is EXPENSIVE. but if you are on the dining plan then that is the place to go. True the food @ Le Cellier is good but coral reef has steped up over the last year. we were just there not so long ago and the fish was good!(assuming u eat seafood!)

Also the main reason is the theming of the restaraunt!! it is great... make a PS and go a little early to request a window seat. We saw many divers and great fish in the aquarium, it was like dining and entertainment in one!!
