Just made our ADR's and we're only planning to have one table service dinner. (We'll also have 2 late breakfasts and 2 lunches.) I couldn't decide which to choose. Right now we have a ressie for Le Cellier because I knew it would be the harder of the two to get later. We had lunch at Le Cellier in May 2009 and had dinner at Chefs in September 2009. We liked both, but can't choose which to go back to. We didn't have our kids with us when we went to Chefs so I'm not sure what the kids menu is like. Any advice on which restaurant is better for kids? Is it worth going to Le Cellier if you're not getting the filet? Which would you choose? BTW, we're not planning on getting the dining plan, so we'll be paying OOP.

I would definitely go to Le Cellier. Better food and atmosphere for kids and adults alike. :goodvibes

I can't comment on the kids' menu, but personally I'd go with Chefs de France. We had dinner there in February and it was wonderful - I saw lots of kids around and they all seemed to be happy and enjoying their food.

We've always loved Le Cellier as well, BUT the past three times we've gone we have been seated near the kitchen or bussing stations, and that really hampered the "atmosphere" of the meal. We're likely skipping that one on our next trip. I know someone has to get the "bad" tables, but literally the last four times we've been we've had the "bad" table. Enough is enough.

edit to add: I was just looking at reservations for while we're there over Christmas because as part of Christmas, I'm treating the family to a meal. EPCOT has a LOT of availability for lunch on the 26th - including a lunch reservation at Le Cellier. I called my parents to see what they would prefer - Le Cellier or Chefs de France (Chefs de France was a dinner on Christmas night option too), and my dad thought about it for a moment and then went with Chefs de France specifically because of the crappy seating and service we or they have gotten the last four times at Le Cellier. As good as food there may be, it's now off our lists.

We did both last trip...

We really liked Chefs De France, but we really loved Le Cellier.

We like to try new places each visit, this year we have 7 ADR's booked and our only repeat is Le Cellier.

Oooh tough choice! I looked at the kids menus online, and Les Chefs' kids menu looks really good. It depends what your kids like though.

Personally I would choose LeCellier, but have never been to Les Chef de France. (want to go, maybe next time).

However since you said what is best for kids, just thought I would throw out there that Remy from the Disney Ratatouie (spelling?) is at Les Chef's. It is very cute, he is on a serving tray and they bring him around for the children.
You should look it up and see the pics...so cute. I don't know them...but they may love that.

you didn't say, but if your ressie for Le Cellier is for dinner then why not book a really early lunch at Chefs (or vice versa) and do them both?

People do crazy things on vacation :thumbsup2

Remy has Sundays off. Monday - Saturday he begins at 12:30 pm. I'm not sure how late he continues.

I know this isn't one of your choices, but how about Teppan Edo. It is hibachi style and I think it's really fun for kids, plus you can also get steak! If this isn't what you had in mind, stick with Le Cellier, it's hard to get a reservation there and you can do CDF on another trip.

Le Cellier has some of the best steaks you will have ANYWHERE...that is, I have been to Morton's and major name steak places and Le Cellier's steaks are very competitive. I personally didn't even get the fillet last time, I got the NY Strip with the peppercorn butter sauce (and the best cream cheese mashed potatoes I have ever had). Chefs de France has an awesome atmosphere and will make you feel like you are sitting in a real French Bistro, and the food is really good, just not quite comparable to Le Cellier. However, Chefs de France does not have the steak options, so the types of food at each are quite different. Chefs de France has a really good take on Lasagna (more of a French ratatouille), port wine short ribs, and roasted chicken breast, whereas Le Cellier has a slew of amazing steaks....my opinion is to get a chance to go to both :) ..... for now, I would say Le Cellier is better overall, but I guess it is whatever you are in the mood for....

A total newbie here, but I would suggest doing both. I am pleased to hear the positive review in Chef De France, as it was a reservation I could get (compared to Le Cellier).

Better food and better service at Le Cellier. I think their steaks are way overrated, but I LOVE the other stuff. Mmmmm pretzel bread. :rotfl:

I am a fan of Le Cellier and have eaten there each trip for the past 10 trips, its a great choice for you and kids. Last xmas we ate at Le Chefs de France and were pleasantly surprised. Service was excellent as was atmosphere and food. It is a toss up for me now.....

I have both booked for our next trip. Glad to hear the good reviews of Chefs de France, since we've never been there! My family doesn't even know I booked it...specifically to surprise our girls with Remy ;)

I would go with Les Chefs. The grilled tenderloin of beef at Les Chefs is far and away better than any steak at Le Cellier. Le Cellier, in my opinion, is maybe a small step above someplace like an Outback's. I've always found the steaks subpar and the sides way too salty. We have always like Les Chefs better.

A little off topic, but at Chefs, can you get the pick 3 meal when using the dining plan?

We're trying to decide between le Cellier and les chefs too.

Are these offered if not using the dining plan? I have seen some menus on line and it looks like both places offer a pick 3.. le cellier's is more $$. We were specifically interested in chef's.... but I'm hoping you don't have to have the dining plan to get this.

Yes you can do the 3 course menu at Le Chefs de France and Le Cellier on DDP. we have done it at both, nice way to get app when on DDP. Yes to the second part of the querstion..they are on the menu and can be chosen if paying OOP, just as anything on the menu when paying OOP.
