So while we were at Disney in Dec we stopped by Le Cellier to see about getting a table with no luck we were told why. Le Celleir is the only 5 star dining establishment at Disney including Victoria and Alberts LOL and one of the best rated places to eat in all of Orlando. This is partly attributed to the fact we use CDN beef not the crap American beef.

We actually switched an adr to go there after many attempts to get one. At first I thought it would be hokey to eat there because we are Canadian. Looking forward to a nice dinner!

We went there last August. We couldn't get a supper reservation, so went for lunch. (usually you can get a lunch ressie, which is almost as good of menu as dinner)

Our server told us that they use Alberta beef 9 monthes out of the year, and use Australian beef the other few monthes when they can't get Alberta beef. I said I hope we are here at the Alberta time! He said we were.

The meals were great. We all had steak or prime rib or petit filet. They were great. The garlic mashed potatoes were yummy. The Cheddar Cheese soup with pretzel sticks was sooooo good!

I also tried Creme Brulee for the first time--so good.

My kids had the Canadian Moose and Smores dessert, and they are so cool looking.

Very good place for a Canadian family to eat!

I am glad the Canadian Restaurant can make us proud, as the movie is sure lame!

Go Canada!:thumbsup2

I am a huge Le Cellier fan but I find that really hard to believe. It's good but I don't think it tops V&A's. It was rated 5* by whom?

Im so glad its so good now, DH and i love it there. I still have bad memories of the buffeteria it used to be... the was the worst back then.

Sara,

Thank you so much for your post. I **knew** it looked familiar when we ate there but I remembered eating a cafeteria type meal in that room wayyyyyy back in the late 80's so I thought I was going crazy since that's not what they serve now.

Le Cellier is one of our favorites too.......we ate there two weeks ago and the cheddar cheese soup, the bread sticks and the prime rib were as usual outstanding.......We are Mainers but I am French Canadian by my daddy.
Hope you enjoy your dinner there too.......we made our ressies already for our APril Trip...

Le Cellier is a good restaurant but no way a 5 ****, anyone who thinks it is - has not travelled the world and ate at true 5 star establishments.

Le Cellier five stars?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That was very rude!

However, if you read the menu it says...Alberta AND Midwest Beef.

The food was good but the service was VERY lacking. 5 star restaurants do not lack in service.

Proud Canadian here, but Le Cellier 5 stars????????????? Not a chance in heck. (heck only due to DIS filter) Mid level ok food. Can you tell that we felt it was way over-rated?:rotfl2: Comparing it to V&A's is ridiculous. (In my opinion of course, sorry to insult those who feel they are comparable)

Have to agree with previous poster that your final comment was rude and uncalled for.

Le Cellier five stars?

Hummm...do I sense a tad bit of jealousy from our neighbours to the south who don't have such a wonderful restaurant to represent THEIR country? :rotfl:

I mean our cheddar cheese soup, P.E.I mussels and Herb Crusted Prime Rib pale in comparison to their "Would you like some fries with that?" fine establishment. :lmao:

I don't think it has anything to do with jealousy as being realistic. Le Cellier doesn't even have linen tablecloths, I would imagine a pre requisite to be a fine dining establishment.

And even though the waitstaff is all Canadian the kitchen staff and management are not so we really can't take any credit for it.

We have always had a great meal there but our Dec trip was marred by horrendous service that resulted in our entire meal (12 ppls) being compd by the management. Not typical of a 5 star restaurant.

This seems to have evolved into what a persons interpretation of five star is. The OP indicated they were told it was a five star, not their personal opinion. The OP also indicated that rating may be due to the quality of that great ALBERTA beef they use

Maybe for Orlando that is a five star?
Stars mean nothing...going to Mexico will tell you that. Their are hotels that claim to be 5 star but barely make it as a three star by Canadian standards. The general consensus is that

% of the people that eat at Le Cellier are very pleased with their meal and will go back again...:thumbsup2

Okay, I've heard so much about the cheddar cheese soup at Le Cellier that I'm going to have to try some (take-out) when I head to WDW in 2 weeks. It sounds delicious.

It is very filling. We had it for an appetizer and only finished half of it so we could eat our meal! It has beer in it, bacon and cheese. It is too strong in my taste to just eat, it is more like a bread dip to me!!

Apparently AAA rated it as a 5* according to a number of CM's and not just CM's working the CDN pavilion either this was from some Brits and some Yanks. They all commented because V&A is apparently no longer a 5*.

Have you done a Dining report? I would love to hear what happened!

I thought USA banned Canadian beef? Did that change?

I do believe the ban was lifted.

But what did they do while it was banned? Serve that "American crap beef" AND still get good revues? Oh it just couldn't be! They probably went to another country for it.
