Le Cellier - Filet Mignon

We are trying Le Cellier next May, and thanks for all this now Im craving risooto and mashed potatoes....:rotfl2:

I considered substituting mashed potatoes for the risotto when I went, but I LOVED the risotto.

If I ever go back to Le Cellier, I might just order risotto and mashed potatoes and call it good.

I think the mashed potatoes and the risotto are both good, but the best dish at Le Cellier is the cheese soup.

There is a reason this is such a popular restaurant. Everything is phenomenal!

I agree completely...the cheddar cheese soup with the pretzel sticks are awesome  and I also agree with the last comment...there is a reason why LC is always so hard to get into. As for the OP's question, my DH and I always get the fillet and we always get the mushroom risotto with it, it is soooo good. The funny thing about it is that my DH normally hates mushrooms, but he loves the risotto at LC :goodvibes

I love the Risotto! I am glad I am not the only that does not sub. with the mashed potatoes. The Risotto is a definite must try if you haven't tried it yet!

Love the risotto. It was our favorite meal of the trip in 2008. LC was the 1st ADR we made for our Aug trip. We are doing lunch this time but DD & I are planning to get the filet & risotto again. Hopefully it will be as good as we remember!

I love the risotto and wouldn't miss it for the mashed potatos although they are pretty good. My daughter is still mourning the removal of the maple barbecue filet from the menu and orders the mushroom filet plain with mashed substituted for the risotto. She hates mushrooms but loves a filet. The last time we ate there was before they went signature and they had a barbecue sandwich on the lunch menu. So when she said she still missed the old barbecue filet our server added the barbecue sauce to her plate. Needless to say, she received an excellent tip since my daughter was absolutely ecstatic to have her barbecue filet again!

I am in the minority here, I thought the mashed potatoes were average when my dw ordered it and I thought the risotto was a fancy name for Minute Rice with Campbells mushroom soup poured over it. Sorry, not a fan of Le Cellier. However, I will admit I have not been there since it went signature. :goodvibes

I'm so glad to hear this. I'm not a fan of mushrooms, but I got a lunch adr at LC and plan to try this unique dish. Sometimes, it's not good to mess with the way the professional chef planned the meal. I'm also not a big fan of cooked leafy greens, but created by a good chef, one time I had the best kale! So, I'm going in with an open mind and excited to try it.

I have and my view hasn't changed. Overhyped, over priced. You take that resturant and put it any place else and it's a mid range resturant. Somehow at Disney it's acquired "mythic" status. I am not sure if folks don't go to nice steak houses anymore so the "standard" is "it's better then Long Horn" or if everyone is 'brainwashed' by the mouse but IMHO the steak I get at Outback Steakhouse is a HECK of a lot better and a HECK of a lot cheaper. And compared to some good steakhouses it just doesn't measure up. I have eaten there several times and everytime I wonder "what's the hype about" I kept going back because "I must have just had a so so expereince and everyone else says it's great" I looked at my last bill (well over $100 for just me) and went.. "Learn your lesson!!!" It's off my list. For the money the Bistro de France is SO MUCH BETTER!

Can you really eat at Bistro de Paris for the same price as dinner at le Cellier? Wow. I have never even looked at eating there because I assumed it was too expensive. I'll have to give the menu a good look. Maybe we can have dinner there after all. Thanks for the tip!

Count me in as another who generally dislikes mushrooms but LOVES this filet complete with the mushroom risotto!

Before Le Cellier went signature for dinner earlier this year, it was less expensive than Bistro de Paris. You can still get LC's non-signature lunch (which is mostly the same food) for much less than Bistro. But, yes, now for dinner, they are both signatures and thus roughly comparable in price. The entrees at for LC dinner range from $27-44, those at Bistro are $33-42.

And keep in mind that this is the ONLY real change when LeCellier went "signature" the PRICING !!!!:rotfl:

Bistro is much more of a dining expereince IMHO. (but I need to shut up about it. Traditionally I have been able to just walk in. I don't want it to get that crowded! :) )

thats my favorite meal in WDW, get the steak without any substitutions. You will love it :thumbsup2

I like them both and have had it both ways more than once. I prefer the mashed potatoes though. Very good!

The risotto is awesome. My girlfriend and cousin both don't like mushrooms, they LOVED the mushroom risotto and filet.

I ordered the NY Strip, I always ordered NY Strip at a steak place, and I wished I had gotten the filet.

Out of Ruth Chris, The Capital Grill and Union Trust - Le Cellier is right there with the last two and was definitely better than Ruth Chris' faltering steaks.
