Le Cellier... eh

When we went to 'Le Cellier' the staff was very nice. And when we where leaving, one of the castmembers ran out to a near-by store/stand to retreve a bag so we could handle all of our carry-out boxes.

I don't know if you hit an "off" night; or perhaps it just didn't live up to your expectations. Everyone has different tastes, likes, expecations, etc. Personally, we've had five outstanding meals at LeCellier...each better than the one before. There are others who, like you, didn't find it all that great. We've eaten at restaurants that people raved about and we thought they were only "okay" or downright awful (Boatwright's, Whispering Canyon Cafe and Brown Derby fit those categories). We don't eat a lot of lunches or dinners at the resorts. We have done breakfasts at the resorts and love Boma and Cape May Cafe (for both breakfast and dinner at Cape May).

Our meal at Le Cellier on Saturday was fantastic. The service was wonderful, soup was good, and the filet was tender. I cannot wait to return in December.

This is why I plan to try every restaurant on the Disney property! Muhahaha!

In all seriousness...it's just like anything else. Everybody has a different opinion. Also, considering the restaurant is run by people, human error can easily affect your experience.

I did try Le Cellier from recommendation on here, and loved it, but we probably won't eat there in the future if we're not on the Dining Plan.

Something else you should consider is that you went to a Steakhouse and ordered fish. I understand that your husband's meal wasn't astounding either, but fish is not their strong point.
When I went to the Coral Reef, first of all people don't rave about the food there anyways, but since I wasn't ordering fish, I didn't expect my meal to be all that fantastic.

Overall, I don't make decisions about restaurants at Disney based on reviews. I look at:
the atmosphere - Sci Fi Dine In - sub par food, but very fun
the kind of food - I'm a fairly picky eater, and I would rather have multiple choices on a menu. Restaurant Marrakesh has practically nothing on it's menu that appeals to me, so I doubt I will be eating there any time soon.
location - If I'm going to be at Hollywood Studios, then I'm not going to run somewhere else to eat. If it's not convenient, then its usually not worth it.

I like Le Cellier, but I don't think it's the be all - end all restaurant either. It is a good value on the DDP for one-credit though.

Every time I've eaten there the food has been good, and I do love the cheddar cheese soup and the maple creme brulee. They also had an awesome duck confit appetizer once when I was there. And it has some very nice sandwiches at lunch.

But I agree with you, it's not worth the rave reviews it gets here.
