Le Cellier - DDP substitution?

We have a lunch ADR for Le Cellier, because my mom is in love with their mushroom filet. But what I like the best at Le Cellier is their plain caesar salad (I know, go figure...). And I'm not crazy about any of their entrees.
We haven't used the DDP in ages so I have no idea what they allow these days...

Would they let me have the plain caesar salad and a side item instead of an entree ?

Oh you can order whatever you want:goodvibes Having said that I wouldn't use a TS credit If it were me I would just pay OOP.

It depends on the restaurant. We tried to replace an entree with an appetizer on the DDP (not deluxe) and at a couple of restaurants we were told we couldn't substitute. We've done the DDP and the DXDDP and now we don't do any dining plan. We prefer to pay OOP so we can eat anywhere we choose and order anything we choose; just works better for us.

I agree with just paying OOP for the salad. You can save and use that TS another place or way.

At lunchtime at Le Cellier the Caesar Salad is considered an "entree salad" and costs about the same as the sandwiches and burger that are on the menu. Since the sides are priced separately, I don't think you'll be allowed to add that for free, even though the filet is $10 more than the salad.

As others have said, you could use the DDP for the filet and pay for your salad OOP.

They have changed their menus now and have the plain caesar at $6.99 as an appetizer. I will probably order whatever my mom & sister can share & pay for the salad OOP. If we only use 2 TS I wouldn't know what to do with the remaining one anyway!
I forgot how complicated the DDP can be sometimes, but hey, $60 a day for 3 of us to eat with "free" dining, couldn't pass it up.

Wow, that was fast. We just ate there last week and the Chicken Caesar Salad was an entree on the lunch menu. (It may be an appetizer on the dinner menu). It is HUGE. I got it and it's too much for one person. I've found in the past, that LeCellier has never been too accommodating. I wanted a veggie instead of the potatoes or rice and have been refused.

That was our experience as well the last time we went, my mom wanted veggies instead of the risotto and they said it wasn't possible. No big deal, what she wanted was the meat anyway.
Maybe I'll try the chicken caesar & get rid of the chicken :)

the reason they won't sub veggies for risotto is that veggies are not offered as the accompaniament on any of the entrees. You can sub like-for-like: starch for starch. Some steaks come with potatoes, some with risotto...they'll let you take the potatoes instead of risotto & vice-versa. But veggies are a paid-for side dish (extra), not part of the paid entree plate. So they will sub...as long as you're subbing something that actually comes with another entree.

Have you looked at the chef's choice menu...as long as you're using up a dining credit anyway...you could get an appetizer sized plain salad and a dessert with that anyway (even if you want to skip the entree)

For some reason I assumed that you could not get the Chef's menu with a DDP credit because it had both an appetizer and a dessert. But if that's a possibility, that'd be great!

Yep that is allowed, you just can't substitute anything....like the starch for starch thing explained above. YOu have to take the whole thing as it comes.

We have used DDP(regular) for chef's menu at Le Cellier, Le Chefs de France and Kona cafe. If you like the choices, its a great way to ge tan app, entree and dessert.

They may let you have the salad as your entree, but not the side.

No substitutions at all are permitted on the Chef's menu. I don't know if that means you will have to order an entree.

Thanks everyone for your advice :) We've decided to cancel Le Cellier and do Cali Grill instead so my mom can get her filet fix.
I was SO stuck on going to Le Cellier until she asked "Why do you want to go so badly when you don't like ANYTHING there??". Good point, good point...:lmao:
