It's been a few months since I enjoyed my signature dinners at Le Cellier. While some people don't think the new dinner is worth it, LC is still tweaking the menu, and I think the most recent changes are positive ones.
-The oxtail ravioli appetizer is now gone. The new appetizer is soft shell crab with arugula, lemon confit, zellwood corn, and brown butter vinaigrette.
-The venison entree has also been removed from the menu. In its place is grilled bison strip loin with sunchoke puree, pickled ramps, and huckleberry port reduction.
-For dessert, the Mont Blanc semifreddo appears to be gone. Now, there is a peach clafoutis with ginger ice cream, peach nectar and ginger snap.
The new items sound impressive, and they seem to be an effort to further upgrade LC's dinner menu. The bison is an interesting addition, as it now makes room for more direct comparison between LC and Artist Point. People already compare LC to Yachtsman because both are signature steakhouses, but I wonder if LC can hold up against Artist Point since both are heavily influenced by the Pacific Northwest.
