Le Cellier after many years

No other restaurant causes a bigger argument than Le Cellier. Those who love it seem to be able to consistently visit and enjoy their meal. The haters seem offended by its existence. IMHO, that had a lot to do with its success. When it was one credit it was one of the hardest ADRs to snag and that confused the haters because they, well, they hated it. As for the servers being Canadian College students, I have nothing against them, having been one myself many many years ago. :)

Definitely! It's seems like no one ever just says, "I liked it. It was fine." It's either "What a horrible waste of money! I am never going back!" or "It was the best meal ever! I go back every year!" I've never had bad service there. It's either okay or great.

It's really interesting...I can't wait to try it myself.

As a "hater" who mentioned the servers are Canadian college students, let me tell you that I am not "offended" by LeCellier's existence. I am offended by Disney doubling prices there because it became so popular while not changing anything to upgrade it to the same level of its other signature (2 credit) restaurants.

The Canadian college intern servers we have had there were perfectly lovely and competent, like the majority of servers we've had over the years at Disney. However, if you've been to one of their other signatures, the service provided by the wait staff there is a whole other step up.

It takes much experience and a certain personality to be a top-flight server. Disney's restaurant managers know how to recognize people who possess the right skill set for providing high-end service, and those are the servers who are promoted to positions at most of their signature restaurants.

If you haven't dined at the Yachtsman or Narcoosees, you might not see the distinction. But it all comes back to the point that a guest is not going to receive Disney's full signature experience at LeCellier even though they are paying for it.

We went in April, it was my first time ever going to WDW. I'm in love with steak so it was a must do for us. I left seriously disappointed. I mean the food was OK, it wasn't terrible, but it definitely did not live up to all the hype. I've had better steaks at cheaper places. I'd almost go as far as saying Texas Roadhouse has a better steak.

My biggest problem was the lighting and seating. The tables are so close together I was practically playing elbow wars with the guy sitting in the table next to ours. I'm left handed, so this is a common issue but never have I had the problem with someone at another table. As for the lighting, it's really dim. It's really difficult when you're coming inside out of the Florida sun. I was practically blind for the first couple minutes I was inside.

Over all, I'm glad I at least had the experience but I personally won't be going back. My biggest piece of advice is DO NOT USE DINING PLAN CREDITS! It is a guaranteed loss. Plan on paying out of pocket. Most dinners for the wife and I were around $100 not including tip (1 DDP credit each). Le Cellier was $120 @ 2 credits each and that's because we added poutine. Without the poutine we would of been around $110.

We went once in 2007 when it was on the dining plan, before it was a signature meal. It was one of my favorites! I loved the atmosphere, and the food was great. I just don't know if I'm committed enough to use two dining credits these days to go back. Maybe if it was just my husband and I, but with our 6 year old, we are better off using our dining credit on Epcot days for Princess B/L/D in Norway.

The Texas Roadhouse is awesome!!!
Don't EVEN think to put Le Cellier in the same category!!! :)

It must be popular since ADRs are hard to come by. That said, I haven't gone is so many years specifically because of the price. Since I seem to go to Disney more and more every year now, I thought I need to change up my eating habits a bit more. If I don't have a good experience in December, I certainly don't have to go there again for another 20 years or so! Thanks for all of the comments everyone--good and bad--that's what I'm looking for. I'm also going back to the Rose & Crown this time after many years--so we'll see how that goes too!

Cheddar cheese soup, pretzel bread, ribeye or strip steak and maple creme brûlée. That's a win every time.

All of Disney food is over-priced for no reason other than they "can." Le Cellier has consistently stayed busy and, as a result, they made the restaurant a "Signature." We ate there last September and it was very good. It was not worth what Disney was charging, but, really, nothing is at Disney World, especially the food. We had the filet and mushroom risotto and it melted in my mouth. The Cheddar soup had too much beer for my taste, but I am not fond of beer. Try the Poutine! It is excellent and fun. Enjoy.

The poutine is amazing! I like the farmhouse. I don't care if it's not "real" poutine. It's delicious!

Good choice!!!!!

It's really not because of anything I've heard or read. I am just not a big steak eater. It's too much food for me.

In other news...I just looked at the menu and they don't have the Farmhouse Poutine any more! :(

Agreed on the meat quality. Le Cellier has been so hit and miss imo that I now go at lunch and just get cheddar cheese soup and Le Celler poutine
