Hi all -

I have ADR's @ Le Cellier in August and was wondering if should stick with the filet, or try the Prime Rib this time. Any help would be appreciated.

Larry

I am wondering the same exact thing. I have an ADR in July and it will be my first visit to this restaurant. Those are the two dishes that I am trying to decide between! Can't wait :goodvibes

There really isn't anything to recommend one over the other except for your own preference. Go with what you like best.

lol i'm having the same problem. i've been once and have an adr for our next trip. i had the fillet the first trip and it was great but i'm considering the coffee rubbed kc strip for next trip. no matter what you get i don't think you can go wrong but if you've never been just don't leave without trying the cheddar cheese soup they're so famous for. and if you've never been there before know that the portions are large...especially if you order a side dish.

In March, my mom got the prime rib and I got the fillet. We thought they were both good, but that the fillet was slightly better. The prime rib had a little more fat on it than I would've like to have seen. I could find absolutely no fault with the fillet though. I will definitely get it again!

Both are really good, but the mushroom risotto that comes with the filet was absolutely amazing.

Depends if you use a knife. The filet is so tender you can cut it with a bread stick.:rotfl2:

My only complaint is that the mushroom risotto is too salty. I am substituting the cream cheese mash potatoes this trip.

Filet! Did I say filet? I mean FILET!! I vote Filet!!! It was amazing, awesome, buttery, like someone said cut it with a breadstick. I was tossed up also and when I told the waiter I couldn't decide he suggested I go with the Filet and am so glad I did. Yummmmmy

We're going to Le Cellier for the first time next month. I'm definitely going to get the filet. A filet and a prime rib are very different cuts of meat. Filet is a leaner, more tender cut while the rib is fattier but many people prefer it because the fat gives it more flavor. Filet is going to be the most tender cut you will find, which is what I prefer. It really depends on what you prefer and your expectations of a good cut of beef. I will probably sub the risotto with cream cheese mashed potatoes though because I always eat my steak with some kind of potato!

We will be dining there for the 3rd time in September and the last two times I had the fillet with mushroom risotto. I too had thought about the Prime Rib but just can't bring myself to ordering it because I love the fillet so much ...so guess what I plan on getting when we are there in a few months :goodvibes

Order the PRIME RIB!!

Oh I had it in Dec 2009 and am still craving it.

Here is my story:
DH got the strip and loved it. I ordered the Prime Rib and our server kept telling me that I was making a mistake! (couldn't believe she was being so bold) She told me that while it is "ok" that most people prefer the filet or the strip and that I would probably not be happy with the prime rib.

I insisted and boy was I glad!!!!

The Prime Rib was so tender I could slice it with my fork, didn't need a knife. And the taste....oh so good!
Not heavily seasoned, very plain but was so good. It was a simple taste, just the meat with salt.
Even DH said mine was better than his.

So if you are a Prime Rib person.......go for it. Don't be swayed by others opinions. You won't be disappointed. ;)

Personally, I loved the prime rib. It does come with a horseradish sauce. If you don't like that with your meat (and some folks don't), then make sure you order it without. The prime rib was one of the best meals I had in Disney.

My family went last September. My DH usually orders a prime rib or NY strip. He and I both ordered the filet and LOVED it! We ate there during lunch and both thought that the portion size was fine. We both love mushrooms and I think that is what made my DH change his mind. However, I'm sure that both are great! Enjoy!
