Folks, one of my friends who currently works at Disney, says they have been informed that starting in Jan 2011, Le Celier will be become a Signature Dining restaurant.
Just booked and cancelled 2 Le Cellier reservations last week for next month (lunch and dinner).
We used to enjoy it years ago, but took it off of our list as it's just not that good. Looked at the new menus again last week to see if we should give it another shot, and there is hardly anything on the menu that appeals to us, so cancelled my reservations. But, I was surprised that several openings came up for the 2 weeks we'll be there in July. Much better steaks on property, IMHO.
I am someone who doesn't feel that most Signatures are worth the cost, but Le Cellier is definitely not a Signature restaurant - cramped tables, stinky musty smell from water and supbar food and service.
I'm sure this will be difficult to afford for many people who enjoy Le Cellier as it will be 2 credits on DP - it was a Signature at one time, I believe?
It will be interesting to see if this comes true, Tiger

I doubt that. Though this has been on the rumor board for awhile now. It has also been reported that the menu is suppose to change too. I have no problem with this and actually welcome it. I don't use the ddp, so this won't impact me at all. I will still visit and I'm sure it will still be a harder place to get into. As long as they accept the TiW, I'll continue to visit.
While we love LC for the mushroom filet and go every trip the past 5 yrs it is not worth 2 credits IMHO so if this is fact sept will b out last dining experience there I think many will agree it's not worth 2 I wouldn't b suprised to see it change back after awhile when they realize they r loosing business
We ate there on our last trip in August 09. It was okay.....certainly not up to all the hype that we had heard prior to going. The food was tasty but the plate was half empty.....not even a few veggies to (a) take up empty space (b) give the plate some colour or (c) complement the steak portion. IMHO it was barely worth one credit let alone two. We didn't even try to get back in here on our upcoming trip this August.
On the regular DDP, I agree with you. Most are still very good restaurants, but the structure of the DDP makes the use of 2 credits for signatures a bad value. (DxDP is a little better IMO.)
Why? Personally I am not very happy with most of the restaurants in the parks, with the exception of Le Cellier. That would probably be true of Brown Derby as well once I try it. I think every resort should have at least one higher quality restaurant.

I agree with this. We almost always will leave the parks , go to a resort for meals and then return. I just don't feel like there are alot of nice meal choices in the parks. When the kids were little it was easier, but now that they dont want to see Mickey or Pooh anymore and we want better non buffet food, it's not offered in a park besides Epcot.
Since there is still no info on this from Disney, and the thread mentioned here on the Disney News and Rumor board is based on the same info as the OP of this thread, (Both know someone who works at LeCellier), we are going to close this and keep all discussion about this on the News and Rumors board at this time. (thread linked above)
I would expect that we'll hear an announcement from Disney before the end of the month on this matter (since January reservations will open at the end of the month)
