Layover in Chicago?

Has anyone ever done it? Can you give me ANY info. I have never flown before, and the whole process is scaring me (not the flying part itself). So I am attemping to get as much info as I can.

Do I stay in a secured area after we get on our one plane and go to the next? Or do I have to dump all drinks and get new ones? We pre-clear customs in Winnipeg, so do I have to get any of our checked luggage or go through the security stuff again?

Any info you could give me would be great.

When you land in Chicago you will go from the gate you arrived at to the gate for you're flight to Orlando, which is what my family and I did when we had a connection at O'Hare International Airport. So we did not have to go through the TSA screaning and our checked bags were taken from our original Air Canada flight and were loaded onto the plane for our United Airlines flight.

CR is right! Once you clear your done you just have to connect. We flew from Calgary to Tampa in December and had a layover in Chicago. It has to be one of the nicest, most efficient, beautiful airports I have been in
