We're flying in to LAX and our return is out of SNA. We aren't renting a car. Any suggestions for the best (and economical) transportation to DL from there?

I haven't used them personally, but lots of my friends have used Super Shuttle.

<font color=navy>There is the Airport Bus and there is Super Shuttle. I called Super Shuttle a couple of months ago & asked them how much it would be to go to Disneyland from LAX, and they quoted me $10/person.

The Airport Bus is less expensive, however, I believe Super Shuttle has a policy of no more than 3 stops to your destination, and I would pay the extra $ for the time it saved me.

Well... as one who has used both Supershuttle and the 'Big Disney Bus' (the airporter) at least 15 times each.....

Supershuttle can be really really annoying - I have been taken about 20 minutes out of my way for those three stops, which dragged the 40 minute trip into two hours. There is no guarantee. Also their vehicles are sometimes in really bad shape.

The airporter is reliable and never had a problem - and I never seem to be at the 'end of the line' - I usually stay at the Marriott, a Disney hotel, the Fairfield, so very close to the park. But even when I stayed at the Towneplace Suites near the duck pond it didn't take long.

Since Supershuttle is such a gamble (particularly during low season, when they may not have enough people who want to go to Disney) I usually go with the bus.

You're welcome! And note that if you have kids, most bus drivers will honour their request for a movie, and will play a Disney video on the bus entertainment system!

The main bus depot which used to be at the DL hotel is now next to the Fairfield Inn. (for both LAX and SNA) The bus initially stops there, and then moves on to deliver guests to their hotels.

Thanks Bavaria. May I ask how much the bus costs?

I think it's about $24 round trip to LAX, maybe a little less to SNA.

I may be going in two weeks - if you need a more specific answer. It's time for a break from work, so this will be a spur of the moment trip....

And I have to say that the Airport drivers are really well trained in customer service. They are a great start to the trip.

We usually go to DL at least once a year and have done both the Supershuttle and the Airport Bus. Here's my opinion for what it's worth!

Both pick up in the same area at LAX. You have to have your bags and be waiting on the curb, outside.

Supershuttle is just a little more expensive but will take you right to your hotel front door. Depending on where your hotel is, the airport bus may only drop you on the street within about a block of your hotel, especially if your hotel is on Harbor Blvd. or another busy street (some kind of new law about the buses tying up traffic or something). This means that you have to haul all your luggage by yourself to your hotel. This also means that you have to haul it all back to the bus stop, and be there waiting for the bus at the right time. This may not be a problem if you are a light packer, don't have small kids in tow, and it isn't 95 degrees out, etc.

The shuttle is nice because they pull up right to the front door of your hotel and will load and unload your luggage (you can wait in air conditioning at your leisure). They will always try to pack as many people into the shuttle as possible which means you make a few stops. This isn't too bad if you're not in a hurry, as you get a little tour on the way.

(The bus also makes several stops, but they are all within the same area around DL, vs. the shuttle which could be anywhere between LAX and DL.)

In my experience, both the bus and the shuttle drivers drive fast and like bats out of you know where, and being on a nice big bus is somewhat comforting as you know you are in one of the biggest vehicles on the road if there were to be an accident.

If you can afford it, fly into and out of John Wayne/Orange Co. airport and take a taxi. (it's only about 15 min. max this way) however all the good travel specials only seem to deal with LAX.

Bottom line (in my opinion), six of one, half dozen of the other. You pay a little more for the shuttle, but you get a little more convienience.:smooth:

We're using frequent flyer miles- the only flight available was LAX on the way out. We got SNA for our return. We 're staying at the GC for 3 nights, then flying out of SNA for 2 weeks in Hawaii. Our return is through SNA. We're hoping to get a hotel close to the airport for the night (our flight back east is the next morning) that has a shuttle to SNA. Thanks for the info.

I posted this about amonth ago and didn't get a response... but it seems that some very transportation savy people are following this thread so I decided to post again :~)

We are flying into sna and staying at the Hyatt. There is 8 people in our party making the round trip bus ride costly. Is there another option such as limosine service - or - does anyone know what a taxi would run on average from the airport to our hotel ( I guess we'd need two)? If anyone has any info on this or knows of any websites that might, I'd greatly appreciate it.

We always rent a car so I've never had to work this end before and I need help!!

Thanks!
Jenn
