Hi everybody  This is my first time on this board and I'm hoping that you can help me decide which airport so I can book my flight. We are flying to Disneyland in a couple of weeks and would like some opinions
on these airports. Our arrival would be at 10:15pm at LAX or 10:30pm in Ontario. We would prefer to not rent a car so we're looking for recommendations on transportation and information on how long it would take to get to and from these airports. We arrive on a Thursday and leave on Sunday. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

They are not usually my first choice. SNA/ Orange county and Long Beach are both much closer. Its going to take you about an hour to get from LAX or Ont.. Its about 35 miles or so- doesnt sound far, but it still takes a while.

What do you plan on using for transportation? Rental car, bus, shuttle? You'll probably have more options from LAX, but I prefer smaller airports so typically I would choose Ont. if I was picking between those two.

We used Orange county and took a shuttle over to DL. Quick and easy.

hlbtimes2 and DVC-Don - Thanks for the quick replies. SNA isn't an option for us because we're using a free ticket on Southwest and the flights from the east coast leave too early for our schedule and SW doesn't fly from our home airport to Long Beach. We don't want to rent a car because we're arriving late and we're not familiar with the area and it's just going to sit in the parking lot the entire time we're in Anaheim. We're hoping that someone can recommend the best options for transportation without renting a car. We are considering the Disneyland Express from LAX - when I called they told me to allow 1hr and 20 min. to and from the airport. Has anyone used this service and does the it really take that long? Has anyone used a similar shuttle service from Ontario and does it also take that long? We arrive approx. 10:30pm and we're staying at the Fairfield Inn. Thanks again :)

Yes, it will really take that long. Even in a rental car you could only shave a few minutes off that time. Going 35 miles in wouthern CA is like traveling 60-70 miles in most areas of the country! I've used the Disneyland express bus from LAX once. The only time I've flown into there actually. It was ok. Its not normally my first choice, but if you dont want to rent a car its probably your best choice. You might check with www.supershuttle.com they do service both of the airports. They do seem a little quicker because they only hold 7-8 people rather then the 40 or 50 the bus can hold. We have used super shuttle from SNA a couple times and have been happy with them.

You're going to want to fly into Ontario. It's not too far from Anaheim/Disneyland. It's about a 30-35 minute drive. I wouldn't worry about traffic too much at 10:30 pm. You should be fine. :thumbsup2

You can also schedule Super Shuttle to/from Ontario.

30-35 minutes? Even mapquest say it would take about 40 minutes. And that is if you know where you are going, and there isnt traffic! But it doesnt really matter anyway, as they dont want to rent a car. It will either be the bus or super shuttle, and that is going to add extra time on to the trip.

Yes, it's only a 30-35 minute drive, especially at night after 10:30 pm. when there's very little traffic. I've driven it many times during the day, with heavy traffic, and it was only about 35 minutes to Disneyland, so travel at night should be smooth.

By the way, the difference between 35 and 40 minutes is only 5 minutes, which is NOT much of a difference. Do you feel I was WAY OFF in my travel time estimate?! By the way, I want to add that Mappoint says it will take 31 minutes, so I would assume any estimate given by anyone or any website will vary by a few minutes, which shouldn't surprise anyone. :car:

Mapquest comes out to 39 minutes to the Fairfield. :teeth: I never said you were WAY OFF. I questioned you. There is a difference. :thumbsup2

Thanks everybody for the replies! I called SuperShuttle and they said it should take 30-35 min. from ONT. They're more expensive than the Disneyland Express but seems worth every penny for the much shorter ride and easier time getting through the airport. Thanks again for your help!

I'd choose ONT. It seems to have cheaper flights in and out than LAX. That's worth 10 or 15 extra minutes driving compared to LAX.

Hi Grimley - I agree, ONT seems like the better choice. I'm flying on a free ticket so the fares don"t really matter but ONT seems like a smaller and easier airport to get through.

Too late...but wanted to agree for anyone else looking this up that Ontario Airport will be 30-35 minutes that time of night in a rental car, little longer with a shuttle obviously. I make that drive all the time, and that is an accurate time.

Also, the Ontario airport is much, much smaller than LAX. You will be able to get in and out so much faster and with much less walking than at LAX. You made the right choice for sure!
