Hi!

I will be flying into LAX on February 9, 2006 and flying out of LAX on February 13, 2006. I will be alone with 2 pieces of luggage and a rollator (a walker with 4 wheels and hand brakes).

I need help with getting into and out of LAX as painlessly as possible.

1. When a person arrives at LAX and picks up his/her luggage to go to the Disneyland Resort Express bus, are there carts or carriers that can be used to wheel the luggage out to the island to wait for the bus?

2. When returning to LAX, is there curbside check in, or is the luggage check in done inside of the airport?

Thank you very much for your help.

Yes there are carts to get for your luggage. They are 3.00. Or you can just pick one up in the terminal. You will have to take an elevator or escalator down to the 1st floor. to pick up your baggage.

question 2 it depends on the airline if they have curbside check in. Most of them do though. SOme do charge a fee above a gratuity. I just found this out a few weeks ago. But for me it is fine as some airlines make you take your bags to be screened yourself. And with most curbside that is not the case.

which airline are you flying? I might be able to ask a friend who works there for a definate answer.

There is definitely curbside checkin - a Skycap checked me in, gave me my boarding pass, then took my suitcase and escorted me and it inside to the luggage-screening area right inside the door (this was Song; I don't know how many there are in each terminal or if I was just lucky and used the 'right' entrance). He also contacted somebody for a wheelchair for me.
I'm trying to remember about arrival... nope, sorry. There must be carts, and there are most likely porters in the baggage claim area to help you, but I get my airports confused.

Thank you for the quick responses. You have put my mind at ease.

I am flying American Airlines. If it makes any difference, I arrive at LAX at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, and I leave at approximately 4:30 p.m. the following Monday.

I just flew American. So I can help....
For Curbside.. It is $2 a bag not including gratuity... They give you your boarding pass and everything. you do not have to take your luggage to go be screened. I would also ask them to get a wheel chair for you as the security line can be long and they can get you up to where you need to go and wait in a minimal line. you have to walk to the far east end of the terminal go up an escalator and then go back to where you started. the close escalator is for first and business class. They could make an exception for you. I do not know though.I would suggest about 2 to 2.5 hours before your departure though. you never know with LAX how crazy it can get.

HTH! Please feel free to ask any more questions!

Uh oh. I hope that's an American charge and not an airport charge - because I tipped the (Song) Skycap $2.00 for one bag; I hope he got to keep the entire thing!
Yes, definitely request a wheelchair; one thing I found different at LAX than the (limited) other airports I use - you move to a seat in the gate area and they leave with the wheelchair. They're supposed to return to the gate when your plane starts boarding to wheel you to the plane IF you need/want, but don't count on it. The Gate Agents are fantastic, it's the airport employees that may be too tied up elsewhere.
