HELP. I have a flight out of LAX on November 23 (the day after Thanksgiving) at 7:00 a.m. on Delta. My sister just got back from LAX (we live in the Sacramento area) and she said LAX was a NIGHTMARE! She said for her Southwest shuttle flight, she had to be there 2.5 hours before the flight and they barely made it on time with all the security checks and standing in line to check bags. My question is this: I thought curbside check in was allowed again? No or yes? Also, has anyone been on Delta out of LAX in the early a.m. If my sister is right, I am going to have to get my family of 8 (one husband, one sister and husband, one grandma, me, and three small children) out of bed by 3:30 am to be at the airport by 4:30 a.m. Is this correct? Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated. You know, the irony here is, I live in Sac, and all the flights out of Sac to Orlando were at 6:00 a.m. with stops and we live an hour away. Thought we would just skip the really early flights and go down to LA the night before, spend the night, and then leisurely mosey on over to the Delta terminal. HA Of course I booked these in February 2001. I swear, planning ahead can really backfire on you sometimes!! Please...any suggestions. Thanks Nutsie.

We were at LAX at the end of September a week before curb side checkin was reinstated. We were there 2 1/2 hours prior and it was a mad house there. Lines were long. There was some people ahead of us in line had missed their flights and blaming it on the airline.

My suggestion for you is to be at the airport at least 2 hours prior. Give yourselves plenty at time at the airport. If you are there to early you can always go into one of their restaurants at the terminal and wait there. I would rather you be there a little early then miss your flight like some people did.

Sorry we flew United.

Check www.latimes.com as they often have articles updating the status of LAX. I think they started letting cars back into LAX this past weekend, but you still can't drop off at the curb--cars go into the parking structure to let people off. Cabs and shuttles were still allowed in as well. A freind with a handicap card was able to get to the curb to be let off.

By Nov, who knows what'll happen... Hope this helps a bit.
