Day Six (Wednesday) - Shopping and Hard Rock Cafe
Me - Laur's - 27
DH - Andy - 27
We were up around 8.30 am and breakfasted in the room. We had a banana, and froot loops for me, and cornflakes for Andy. We had ordered a car from Alamo for today (used Alamo due to AP holder discount). We were picked up in the Alamo minibus at 9.30 to go to the car centre to collect the car. There was another couple on the minibus - he was very obnoxious - on his cell phone all the way to the centre complaining to one of his friends about how phony and cheesy everything was at Disney. I was quietly seething - but had the last laugh when I noticed that he was wearing Mickey Mouse socks!! Sounds to me as though he was playing the big man in front of his friend!
There was quite a queue when we arrived, and only two people behind the counter, but they didn't take too long to get through the queue. We had already decided that as we were only having the car for one day, we would treat ourselves to an upgrade to a convertible. The price to upgrade worked out at around £20 - well worth it. The car was a Chrysler Sebring, beautiful.
Not that I was excited about the car or anything ..
We left the car centre at 10.20 am and headed back to the Pop to collect our parking permit while the front desk was reasonably quiet. We then set out for the Premium Outlet mall and had our first taste of cruising with the top down. It's a lovely feeling the wind whipping your hair around, I could get used to this.
We arrive at the PO mall around 11 am, and go firstly for a look round the Adidas shop. Andy gets a couple of new vest tops. It's about 12 noon by this time, and we are both feeling hungry, so we stop in at the food court and get a slice of sausage pizza each and a Dr Pepper from Villa Pizza. This was really good pizza. The napkins inform me that they have outlets in the UK, but I have never seen one.
We go to the Cosmetics Company next, and I get an Estee Lauder kit with lipgloss, lipstick, eye makeup remover, mascara and moisturiser, and a Clinique all about lips. I love this store, the makeup is soooo cheap compared to UK prices.
We then go to the Levis store as I am desperately in need of a new pair of jeans. I am fussy when it comes to jeans and know exactly what I want - hence us spending almost an hour in here. I find one pair of jeans that I like in the whole shop! We can't work the sizes out, but I take this one pair and try them on. Luckily, they fit perfectly except that they are too long, but I decide to get them as they are perfect in every other way. $21! Bargain!
We nip into the Disney store and I get a Kim Possible pin for my lanyard, and a Tigger fridge magnet for my mum.
Next we go to Fuzzywigs which is my favourite shop in this mall - candy and Hello Kitty everywhere! I get a HK pen, HK sticker, HK badge, a Sweettarts lipbalm, and a Pez lipgloss for my little sister. We also get ice creams, which are very good from here and they have al kinds of interesting flavours. I have a smores one, and Andy gets mint choc chip.
We go to the Nike store and get Andy a pair of shorts, and then spend an hour in Skechers getting trainers! The deal in here is too good to resist - buy one pair, get one pair half off. I really badly need to get trainers as the ones I have been wearing have been mashing up my feet all week long. Andy chooses his trainers quite quickly, but I have a mini tantrum as they don't have the ones I want in my size (it seems that in America my size 6 feet are freakishly large!). However, with the help of Andy and a nice Indian lady who is sat next to me, I choose a couple of pairs, and we come away with four pairs of trainers for just over £80! Double bargain!
Time is getting on so we leave for the Pop, arriving back around 5.30 pm, to shower and change. We're back out again by 6.20 pm, which sadly isn't quick enough for us to arrive at the Hard Rock Café in time for our 7 pm priority seating. We are, however, very lucky in that we arrive at 7.30 pm, go up to the front desk and they honour our seating! Much relief as the queue is pretty horrendous. We take our pager and have a look round the shop while we wait for our table to be ready. I think we only wait around 10 minutes before we are buzzed.
I choose the cobb salad as I had this last time and it is lovely and huge! Andy has BBQ ribs and we share perhaps the biggest piece of chocolate cake in the world for dessert. I make the mistake of having a vodka and coke, which arrives pretty much clear. I am holding it up to show Andy, and saying that I wonder if I could have some coke with my vodka, when our waitress notices, and asks if it's a bit strong and would I like a coke! I gratefully accept.
We visit the shop again so I can get this skirt I have seen - which is actually a pair of shorts that looks like a skirt. I ask about changing rooms and am told that there aren't any - so end up trying on two pairs over my trousers - and being thankful I hadn't worn a skirt! I also get a HR keyring for my brother.
We walk back to the car soaking up the Citywalk balmy evening atmosphere. I am overcome with the urge to try to get into Universal Studios as I am missing the Jimmy Neutron ride (!) but Andy persuades me to wait until September.
We pop into Walgreens on the way back. I totally love this shop - it has everything! I stocked up on Sally Hansen nail polish as it is so much cheaper here, and we get a huge amount of chocolate, which I admit is mostly for me, I am addicted to Hershey bars, but a bit for Andy, my sister, and my cousin too (who got addicted to Butterfingers when she was posted in Florida for a couple of months).
We make a final stop at Downtown Disney for a quick look round the House of Blues shop. I get a mouse mat for my Dad, and a Live Loud badge (for my gigging denim jacket) and we leave just as they are closing up.
We stop at the bar and decide to sit outside for a drink tonight as it is a little earlier than usual. Inspired by Mandy's quiz, I decide to try a Hula Hoop which is delicious - a definite contender to the frozen Pina Colada. Andy has a beer and a gin and tonic before we head up to bed.
