Day Four (Monday) - Mini golf, MGM Studios & Disney Quest

Me - Laur's - 27
DH - Andy - 27

Had a bit of a longer lie-in today and got up around 8.45 am. Andy brought us a breakfast of croissants, bananas and cereal (corn pops for me, and frosties for Andy) and then we got ready and headed out to Blizzard Beach. We had decided we would go and play mini golf this time because we thought it would be a nice break if the parks were really busy, and also because despite being together for 11 years (since we were 16) we have never played mini golf together. I honestly don't know why we waited this long - I think this morning I laughed more than I did all week.

We arrived at WinterSummerland around 10.30 am. The sun had come out really hot - sadly it was cloudy when we left the hotel so we had both put on longer trousers which we regretted a bit after slogging around in the sun but it didn't spoil our enjoyment. We had a nice surprise when we arrived at the Pop to find out that we were entitled to a free game as part of our package - bonus. We were expecting to get half off with our APs, but free is even better! We decided on (OK, I begged for) the Winter/Christmas course as I wish it could be Christmas every day, anyway (OK, not really, I have seen Mickey's Once upon a Christmas) and as it was quiet got started right away.

I loved the fact that they played Christmas songs all the way round and it was great singing away to them in the sunshine, and also that the holes are themed so well. There are lots of little tricks, and the rhymes for each hole were cute. We were lucky that because we were quite early, there was only one family in front of us, and no one behind us. This was probably just as well - I have a lot to learn about not being too "over enthusiastic" with my shots! I didn't quite realise that you don't have to hit the ball quite that hard - and therefore my balls were flying into hedges, up embankments and, memorably, into the middle of a hole that the family in front were playing on. But we laughed and laughed and laughed some more. My favourite holes were the one where the snowman squirts water at you when you go to retrieve your ball, and the one that picks your ball up and swirls it round in a long tube - I liked that one because I got it first time! All I can say is, it's a good job we decided not to score.....

We were finished up and back at the Pop around 12 noon, so went to the food court to grab a bite for lunch. Andy had been yearning for a chili cheese hotdog so we both got one of these with fries. Really nice, though I struggled to be bothered to move after that!

We then headed out to MGM, arriving there around 2 pm. As we approached the hat, we saw that Winnie the Pooh and Piglet were out for photos. As I was getting frantic that I hadn't had my cuddle with Pooh yet, we waited and we waited and we waited around half an hour in the blazing sunshine so I could get one (thanks, Andy, you are so sweet to me  ).

After this we rode Star Tours, in the back row. I am a bit dubious about this as at the one in DLRP, if I sit on the back row my feet don't touch the ground and I get thrown around a lot. I tried to tell a CM member this once, but they still put me in the back row because they said all the seats are the same height. How come my feet touch the ground at the front then?! Anyway, either I've grown or the back seats here are lower, as I stayed in my seat no problem!

We had heard from a lady yesterday that her child had her picture with Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable, and sure enough when we got a times guide at MGM we saw that they were out for pictures. We went to the area that it mentioned and there were Power Rangers, like, everywhere (are there perhaps 100 of these at any one time?!) but no Kim and Ron. Andy spotted a CM about half way down the street though, and sure enough, round a corner, they were there.

Starstruck, much, me?

After this momentous excitement, we decided to do the Backlot tour as we haven't done this since our first visit. They had an exhibition about villains after the tour which was quite interesting - mostly old costumes. We then went over to do the Magic of Animation - amazingly, we hadn't done this before. We had just missed a show so had to wait 15 minutes for the next one. This was quite good, though I'm not sure it's as good as the one at DLRP. We did the Great Movie Ride next, gangsters again. Ah well, there's always next time.

We got ice creams after this, and sat in the shade to eat them as I always have some messy melting problems! A guy came over to ask us some market research questions and was quite amazed to hear we were annual passholders! He said they didn't get many from the UK.

Before we left the park we went to look round the Narnia exhibit. I thought this was really nice, the trees and general setting were really magical - I truly felt that we had just stepped through the wardrobe.

We went back to the Pop and picked up some ham and cheese sandwiches and some cheddar and sour cream crisps for tea. We ate these in the room whilst watching TV, had a shower and then headed back out to Downtown Disney. We had a look around the Virgin Megastore and picked up some bargains. I got a Seether CD (I saw them on Jay Leno, great proper rock band), a Gwen Stefani book, and a Harajuku Lovers (one of Gwen's clothing labels) t-shirt, and Andy got a Terrorvision CD from their one week only tour which we went to. I was most impressed with my t-shirt as it was soooo much cheaper than the crazy prices they go for on EBay.

We went to DisneyQuest next. I love this place, and was gutted to hear it will be closing. It was heaving. Normally we go on the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters first, but the queue was so long that we went instead to the Pirates of the Caribbean adventure. This is such good fun. Because it was so busy, we shared a "boat" with two others. I don't mind doing this at all, but I love it when there are only the two of us and we get a whole side of cannons each. We got the top score (Pirates of the Carribean) - this is one game I am good at! We went back to Buzz and the queue had shrunk a little, so we decided to join in. We seemed to wait ages to get on it but it was worth it. I love this too, I am lucky that Andy likes driving (I even hate driving in a real car!) so I get to be the gunner. This ride brings out my (usually non-existant) competitive side, and I love firing the balls and making people's cars spin. Little whinge alert - the only thing I don't like about this ride is that some people seem to think they are in bumper cars. Nowhere in the objectives of this game, does it tell you to smash head on (or sideways) into other people's cars. I have a recurring neck problem which can get aggravated by this. I just think if people want bumper cars, they should stick to fairground rides - or learn to shoot the balls straight into your car so they don't feel they have to ram into you!! OK, whinge over!

All the excitement has worn us out, so we head back to the Pop for frozen Pina Colada for me, beer for Andy and bed by 12.30 pm.
