After our late night, we were up slightly later at 8.45 am. I was much happier in the breakfast room as they had Lucky Charms this morning!
After breakfasting, we set out on the subway to Bloomingdales, well, we had to be able to say that we had been. As a general rule, we are cheap and cheerful shoppers so Bloomingdales was far too upmarket for us, and we couldnt cope with all the perfume sprayers! On the plus side, they had Molton Brown stuff which we both like, so Andy got a deodorant and I got a naranji hand wash.
We walked back towards the hotel and stopped in at McDs for lunch. In an attempt to be marginally more healthy than usual, we both had a chicken bacon ranch salad and a diet coke.
We stopped in at the hotel to confirm our pre-booked taxi pickup for the following day. It was less than encouraging as the woman Andy spoke to was very rude and unhelpful and made him go through all the details of our booking - even though he had the booking number.
We hadnt made any plans for the rest of the day, so after having a look through the guidebook, we chose to go to Greenwich Village. We took the subway and on arrival were instantly pleased with our decision when we spied the French Connection shop Andy had been looking for one for days. He had a successful visit and came out with two pairs of jeans.
We stopped in at one of the discount clothing stores and on the way in we had to leave Andys FC bag with a guy at the door which I wasnt very happy about. Anyway, I was glad we went in the shop as I got a Betty Boop skinny vest which was half price. (And we got our bag back quite safely).
We were having a walk round after that and discovered, quite by accident, my favourite sight of the day the building used in Will and Grace as their apartment! I was so excited to have stumbled across it as I LOVE Will and Grace. It is actually part of the university building, and not a trendy apartment complex.
After our excitement, we headed in to check out another Victorias Secret and I came out with some body polish which I couldnt resist because it smelt so nice.
We took the subway back to Union Square and went into Starbucks for a break. I had a mocha, Andy had a cappuccino and we shared an M & Ms cookie.
After our coffees, we took the subway to 79th street to have a look round Circuit City. We also called in Duane Reade so I could get some Jolly Ranchers to take back for my colleagues, and a Skor bar for me, yum.
We took the subway back to the hotel for Simpsons and showers, and went to the hotel restaurant, the Metro Grill, for tea. The restaurant was really peaceful and has romantic booths. Our server was really lovely and efficient.
It is at this point where I run out of notes so the rest is a little hazy. I know we both had cocktails, and one of us must have had a martini because I remember our server struggling to carry the drinks! They brought us breadsticks and olives, and I had a lovely meal of ravioli and Andy had pork on mustard mash. Neither of us could manage a dessert. We got a discount for being hotel guests which was a nice surprise.
We went back to the room to get the video camera and took some film from the rooftop terrace. I am willing to hazard a guess that we probably finished the night with beer and malibu and coke.
