Laundry

Will be staying at ASMo. I assume there are laundry facilities, and I also assume that there will be a vending machine with detergent and dryer sheets. Does anyone remember approx how much these things cost? And how much the machines cost too?

As memory serves, it cost me ~$5 for a load of laundry..with the soup. I believe the only soap was Tide, which is a little too strong smelling for me..so next time I would bring my own.

The laundry facilities are the only downside I saw to ASMo. Their main laundry facility is as big as the individual facilities at the mods.
I think I have read where ASMo has two facilities, but I am not certain on that.
We went at 8 pm (on a week day in January -- slow time) and we still were jockeying for washers/dryers. I think there were only 12 washers or dryers. And one woman had half of them. And I swear whenever I do laundry at WDW, there's always one person using 5 - 6 of them.
I have read in the morning is no better.
I think if you do it mid day your luck will be better.
At least it is next to the pool, if you want to be there AND do laundry, it would work out well.
I just take my own detergent tabs and a few fabric softener sheets with me.
It took us just over two hours to do two loads. We just timed it right. And others had to wait, so it took them much longer. Some gave up and left.
Just allow plenty of time.

I can't tell you the cost of the detergent since I bring my own tablets. As far as the cost of the machines go it's $2 a wash load and $2 for a dryer cycle (usually takes two).

Each pool at the All Star resorts has a laundry building. It seems the same at the moderates as well. We usually work laundry in with afternoon pool time.

Soap seemed expensive, but I would bring my own regardless of price. Several years ago at CBR the machine wouldn't dispense and that ground a critical operation to a halt (took a CM about half an hour to get to the laundry room... front desk shipped me to housekeeping, who transferred me to maintenance, etc).

What I found surprising was the laundry at WL. Maybe they expect the guests at deluxe resorts to send it out or pack more, but I believe there were eight or twelve washers for the entire resort. This was down the hall from Roaring Forks, if there is another I did not find it. That laundry room was always crowded. The moderates and values may just have more rooms, but I've rarely had to wait to do laundry at AS's or POR.

I don't remember vended dryer sheet, just Downey liquid. I also like the tablets. After some time in my luggage they are back to powder and ready to use ; )

Take a book, roll of quarters and your own supplies.

Make laundry your time away from the Parks to regroup your thoughts
and look at a guide book.

Don't let laundry hurt your wallet. Those wasted dollars can be used
for ice cream in the Parks.

Bring you favorite laundry detergent in tablets.
I use WISK. Can do 6 loads. The box is small and fits very
neatly in a suitcase. The tablets are wrapped in pairs individually
so not to get wet.

If you use dryer sheets pack what you would need for a load
in it's own zip-loc bag. Do enough for 6 loads - to match the laundry
detergent tablets.

Most resort laundy facilities are near the pool &/or game room.
Relax, let your kids play, catch up on your plans for the rest of
the days at WDW. Use the time productively. Then you will not
feel like it's a chore.
