I seem to recall seeing somewhere that DVC members can use the laundry facilities free of cost when staying in a studio.... is that right?

My family comfortably fits into a studio right now (kids are young) but when we stay a week we really like having a washer and dryer. And of course to make our points last longer we need to stick to the studios while we can so then laundry questions comes up. Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA

That is correct. All resorts. Free of charge :beach: They have vending machines for soap and bleach

The lanudry facilites at OKW are near each pool.

At the resorts where DVC shares with a regular hotel, there is a separate free DVC laundry room, so be sure and ask at check in, as the laundry room for the hotel side will still be a coin op.

I don't know if this is true now, but the first few times I used the laundry facilities at BCV I couldn't figure out how they were supposedly free. Every machine had a coin slot. Finally, I just pushed in the slot thing without any coins. Voila! That's the only way I could figure out how to start the machine. It didn't look free, but it was.

OKW and SSR are at the pools. all the pools

BWV and VWL - 1st floor (only one at each resort)

BCV and AKV - 4th and 5th floors (only one at each resort)

say where you are going for more instructions.

Our next trip is, as of now, in a one bedroom at SSR but we are considering cutting back to a studio to save on points and more than likely we'd be at SSR or we might try to waitlist BC or BWV. Our mid-2009 trip will be in a studio and we'll try for a resort that we haven't stayed at yet so BC, BWV, or AKV.

Another question to piggyback on this.... Right now we have a ressie for the first week of December in a one bedroom at SSR. If we change to a studio what happens to those 68 points which is the point difference between the studio and the one bedroom? We are still relatively green to DVC and there seems to be so much to learn. :)

TIA

If you cancel before the 30 day deadline, those points go back into your UY with no change in status. If you're within the banking period and if those points weren't borrowed or banked, you can bank them into the next UY.

Thank you all for the info! :disrocks:

I feel like a DVC Padawan - there is so much to learn and learn it I will. :yoda:

don't count on being able to change your dec trip.

dec is probably the most indemand time at WDW for DVC members.

so don't count on changing it.

just next time go with a studio instead.

No biggie if we don't change it, DH & I were just tossing around ideas and planning our 2009 trips. I think that addonitis bug is really starting to nibble at us. :)

now the feeling - use to add on all the time - but haven't since VWL - so waiting for BLT (at least hope to buy. if the price is just unreasonable will be happy with what I have)

Unfortunately not all hotel guests respect that. The one time we stayed in a studio (at the BWVs), when we went down to do laundry, the laundry room was being used by three groups from the Inn side. We complained to the front desk, but they did not do anything about it.
