We've been to the World many times, but our upcoming trip is the first time DW and I are renting points and staying in DVC studios (6 nights OKW followed by 5 nights AKV Jambo). We know that 1 BR+ villas have washers and dryers in the rooms, but what about the studios- I assume there are laundry rooms available? Are they free to guests staying in DVC studios? TIA.

There are laundry rooms at every resort. I have no idea if there is a charge.
Thanks for your quick reply. We know about the laundry rooms at the (regular) resorts, and the new app for tracking availability of machines. Just wondering about the DVC resorts and whether there was a charge for using them when staying in a DVC studio.

Every resort seems slightly different....some of the rooms you just go in and use the machines (Bay Lake Tower) some you go to the front desk for tokens (Aulani), but I believe anyone on DVC points gets free access.

Thanks. We'll ask for the procedure at check-in at both OKW and AKV.

Yes, there are free laundry rooms for those staying in a studio. At Jambo, it is on the 5th floor and you just go in and use the machines. I am not sure about OKW.

They are free for guests staying in DVC studios. As mentioned at Jambo they are on the 5th floor and at OKW there are laundry rooms at each of the pools. It may look like they require coins but just push the empty coin slot in to start the machines.

There are laundry rooms at each DVC resort and the washers and dryers are free for DVC members. Access to these DVC laundry rooms are controlled by locks which can be opened with your MagicBand (Note: Its not uncommon to find the laundry rooms are not locked.)

By the way, Disney resorts that have a hotel component and a DVC component, like AKV Jambo House, often have separate laundry rooms. At Jambo, the DVC laundry room is on the 5th floor at the start of the Zebra trail (near villa #5408). Jambo House has other laundry rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors, but those are used by hotel guests and are not free to DVC members.

Another tip: Laundryview.com, the app lists all the laundry rooms at Disney by resort. But the Jambo House DVC laundry room on the 5th floor is erroneously listed under "Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village." If you intend to use the app to track availability, remember to click on Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village to find the Jambo House DVC laundry room. Make sense?

Yes it does. We know about the app, but the tip about clicking Kidani to see the Jambo laundry room is appreciated.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but can someone explain how to get the app and how it works. I looked up Laundry View on the App Store and all I saw was Wake Forest University.

At Jambo, the free laundry room is right by the across-the-lobby bridge. Facing the window to Arusha, it is on the right side. Use your Magic Band to gain entry.
At Old Key West, there is a room near Hospitality House. It is near the tennis courts. There also are laundry rooms between buildings 19 and 20, by the Turtle Shack, and between buildings 55 and 56.

Since this is a "laundry" thread...let me be the first to apologize if this is not the place to post my question...but here it goes (totally random)...

What kind of detergent do you all pack? I'm thinking of those tide pods..I think that's what they're called. We will be flying..will the pressure affect the pods? Specifically, will they burst (and make a mess)?

Tia! :flower:

I use the pods and actually store them in large prescription pill bottles. I removed all of the labels and I am able to fit 4 of them in there. They have been safe and didn't open up or leak the few times I have packed them this way.

Thank you! If I may ask...did you fly? :flower:

Yes the laundry facilities at okw are located at the pools. Generally the dvc laundry rooms have 2 washers and generally 2-4 dryers so expect to wait. We've had days where we gave up waiting for an empty washer and tried again the next day. We only use 1 washer at a time because we don't want to be a washer hog. Though we are a minority. We travel for 14 or more days so have to wash a load or two each trip.
