I have never stayed at a resort long enough to need to do laundry, but this August we will certainly need to do laundry. We are staying at the Poly. I am not familiar with how the machines work. Do I need to bring my own laundry soap from home or is the soap provided?

Bring your own detergent and dryer sheets or purchase them out of a vending machine....easier (and cheaper) to just toss a 1 load scoop of powder into a zip lock sandwich bag and toss in your suitcase (or take several bags if you will need to do morethan 1 load)...that way you don't have to worry about scrounging for change for the washer, dryer AND vending machine!!

Of course if you are traveling by plane and have laundry detergent in a zip lock they may need to delay your luggage and figure out what it is. It may be easier to purchase it out of a vending machine or buy some at the local grocery store if you have a car.

We didn't do laundry at the Poly when we were there but I presume it's the same as the WL. The laundry room has laundromat washers and dryers with a vending machine for soap, Bounce sheets, etc. You can get a variety of brands. $0.50 per box. I think the machines were $0.75 or $1.00 so take a roll of quarters or use the change machine.

Yes, I did the laundry while DW rested.

I unfortunately must do laundry as well as there are 4 of us and we spend 2 weeks so there is no way I'm packing that much clothes since we fly so I do laundry at least twice.

Last August I was able to bring all my detergents without a problem since that mess with the airlines didn't occur until after I was there so I brought in my carryon a small bottle of softener and my powder detergent. Now I can't do that since I don't want them to think my powder is drugs. Tide used to put out detergent tablets which I really loved because I brought that but they don't make it anymore. So I guess for this trip I'll have to try to stop at the store.:laundy:

I think I will pack my own dryer sheets and I will purchase my detergent while I am there. The last thing I want is to have my luggage searched especially since I am on a transboarder flight. Thanks

We just returned on Sunday from 9 days at Disney. I did do laundry at the YC and this year decided to pack my own powdered detergent and dryer sheets. I double bagged the detergent in quart size ziploc bags. Funny story because our only bag that was checked in security (it had the paper saying they searched our bag) was the suitcase w/ the laundry detergent in it. Coincidence or not, but everything arrived safely. I did bring 2 rolls of quarters with me as well, it is $2 per wash and $2 per dry.

You can purchase pre-packaged laundry soap for much cheaper either at your local supermarket or at www.minimus.biz If they're prepackaged the airlines doesn't look twice.

I will be there to do laundry too! DD has a golf tournament for 5 days so I am sure we will have gone through every piece of clothing before we get there. Just too hot and humid!
Yesterday I bought a 3 pk of Tide (labeled and pre measured) for .99 in our local Wal-Mart. It was in the travel size section. Also found Nail polish remover wipes. I was really trying to figure out how to bring that as well. Nothing annoys me more than when polish chips, just makes me feel dirty.:confused3

Can someone tell me what kinds of detergent they sell in the laundry rooms? Thanks!

That is why this trip I don't want to bring the powder in the bags because you know security thinks it could be drugs and I don't want to be detained because of it. I mean one whiff would tell you what it is but who knows how they think and it is a precaution so they are just doing their job.

I wonder if the sundries stores sell detergent, I never noticed. Is it cheaper to buy it there or in the vending machine?

I didn't think about the searching, but my husband did and gave me the, "I told you so look". Oh well all ended well and I will just buy the boxes from the vending machine in the future as I have done in the past.

Wow, those prices are cheap! The prices normally are $2.00 for the machines and I think $1.00 for the detergents.
