We will be on the Magic for 7 nghts prior to our stay at WL. I planned on doing laundry Saturday after we check in at WL BUT if we can't get into our room iearly t may be a problem. Someone suggested to splurge and go for the laundry service.

Does anyone have a price list for this?? While I don't mind a little splurge, I don't want to end up with a $100 laundry bill!! It would be for items such as shorts, tee shirts, and underwear for a family of 4 (two adults, 2 teen boys).

I thought of the same thing and actually called and spoke with housekeeping on this issue. They charge per item, pants, shirts, even underwear. I can say it wasn't exactly cheap either, but I can't remember the exact figures. I was considering checking to see if there was a drop off laundry service nearby when I got there since it would be more cost effective. I really don't want to do laundry, but I didn't want to pay $100 or more having the hotel do it for me unless I get desperate. :teeth:. I'm trying to pack light so laundry will be a must while we are there.

Have a great time on your cruise! :wave2:

The first year we went to WDW ('99), we checked into having our clothes sent out. I think we could've bought new clothes, for what it cost. We use the resort laundry-mat.

Altho doing laundry on vacation is not very fun, I could not convince myself that sending out 2-3 loads for $50+ was worth it(they charge for each individual piece of clothing sent out). We did our laundry mid trip (family of 6). Washers and dryers at the Poly were $2 each (and the dryers were decent in terms of drying clothes in one cycle). We brought our own powdered detergent as my daughter is allergic to most soaps, but you can buy detergent for $1 per load. We went at 11 p.m., washed just about everything we brought with us and were done at 12:30 a.m. (yawn). Nice thing was no one else was there so we could run 6 washers at the same time and get done pronto. Also want to add: even tho my husband was with me while we were doing the laundry, security came around 3 times in the 90 minutes we were there to check on everything....I really appreciated that!

For the first time in 6 trips to WDW, I did Laundry. Believe me I packed more than enough but it was so hot and raining we all showered and changed twice daily!!

I will suggest that you bring extra quarters just in case. The dryers at the BWInn did NOT dry very well. I had 3 washers and dryers going at the same time and I had damp clothing in all 3 dryers at the end of the cycle.

It is not fun doing laundry so bring a magazine or avoid the whole situation and pack extra underwear.......like I should have done;) !

Magicinmyheart......Yep, $100 easily.

Thank you very much for the price list. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Hi!

I'm guessing you won't have a car, but if you will, you might consider stopping at an offsite laundromat on your way from the Port Canaveral to WL. That's what we're planning to do. No fun to do laundry on vacation but at least we can get it all done at once at the laundromat, and hopefully it'll be cheaper (and less crowded) than the resort laundry room.

Have a great trip! :)

Thanks for posting those laundry fees. I, too, had been wondering about this. I really don't want to do laundry on vacation. I guess we will have to pack heavy or resign ourselves (myself) to getting to know the WL laundry room.

We normally go to dw for 2 weeks and although I do overpack I still need to do laundry. I HATE doing laundry on vacation. We drive down, so we have the car. I looked up in the room yellowpages and found a laundry pretty close and I bring them there. I go at the end of the first week of our stay, so its around 7 days of clothes for 3 people. I forget what they charge per lb., but it runs around 20.00 or so. I drop it off in the morning and by that evening there all done. Washed, dried and folded. I think its just great. I also have it done right before we leave to come home, this way I don't have to go home and do it. Its cheaper to do it at the resorts, but just knowing I don't have to do it myself, makes it worth every penny.

dg39,
This sounds like a great idea. Do you remember the name of the laundry service? I would like to use them. We will also be there for two weeks. (yipee!)

I think you could probably stop at Walmart and buy new clothes for about the same amount as the on-site laundry service. Can you imagine paying $1 per sock? I always do laundry when we're at Disney and it really isn't that big a pain. At most resorts, the laundromat is next to a pool, so you can put them in and go for a swim.

Just giving you a bump

As soon as I get in touch with my dh, I'll ask him if he remembers where it is. He won't remember the name of it, but hopefully he'll remember the driving dirictiions from dw. I do remember it was no more then 10 minutes away and they did a good job with the clothes. I had alot, so they washed and folded them, and they put them in a box. 7days of clothes for 3 of us, came out to something like 20.00 or so. It was soooo worth it. I'll get back to you all soon...

I haven't used the service that dg39 posted about but remember reading about it. It was North on Apopka-Vineland RD and on the East side. It was either in the first big strip mall you come to...the one with Kinko and Eckerds...or in the next one...the one with Winn Dixie.

I may try this next trip as we're not doing a DVC stay this time.
