Laundry room surveillance

Am I the only one who interpreted the OP's question as "are the laundry rooms safe?" - e.g. Cameras to watch out for creepy bad guys.

Nope - I thought the same thing, that the OP was wanting to know how safe the laundry rooms are. Perhaps they are planning to do laundry very late at night or very early in the morning. I would assume there are cameras everywhere except individual resort rooms and bathroom facilities.

I nterpeted the question to be about safety from theft. Most people put their load(s) in and leave, return to switch to dryer and leave again. People steal things o_O I've had my laundry stollen, not at Disney, but somewhere else.
It amazes me what people feel they can just help themselves to. I've heard reports of parents buying those nice $$$ Disney beach towels, using them at the water parks and they've been stollen.

Recently, at Kidani, I put a load in the wash and went over to the pool for lunch and lounging. Admittedly, I left load in wash for about two hours. When I came back there was a lady waiting for washers they were all running. I could not find my clothes. Expected maybe someone tossed in empty dryer so they could use washer but nope. Looked in Windows ov running dryers and not there either. Not on shelf. Even checked trash can. Was about to go to desk when I decided to wait the ten minutes for washers to finish running and see if someone re washed my clothes for some reason. Yep...that's what happened. I figured someone got tired of waiting for washers and pulled my clothes out and tossed them on floor and maybe someone came in and felt bad so they re ran them through. They were not in the washer I put them in. Kinda my own fault for leaving them. I just assumed it would not be busy in laundry room mid afternoon at Disney. But since then, when I use hotel laundry I set timer on my cell phone and go switch right away.

Good to know, though, that if my clothes had gone missing Disney could look at video and see what happened.

That's what I do - put in my laundry and set a timer on my phone. I go back right away to put some items in the dryer (the dryers tend to run much, much hotter than I dry things at home, so I only dry some items for maybe 15 minutes then take them out to hang; I also bring a lot of those thin metal hangers I accumulate from dry cleaning for travel as they fit easier in the small closets and I hang almost everything).

I do it early in the morning while everyone else sleeps, or during the occasional afternoon break.

Slightly off topic.....

What is the website used to view your washing/drying status? I've seen it posted here and can't for the life of me find it.

I think that site is a great way to keep an "eye" on your belongings. As a PP stated, things tend to go missing when you don't retrieve them from the machines quickly.

To blunt, never leave anything out of your possession that you would be upset about losing. If you don't want something taken, stay with it. That's the only way to be 100% safe. It stinks for sure, but it is what it is.

Jus book marked....had no idea about this. Thanks.

It is awesome! I love being able to look ahead of time and see if there are empty washers, instead of hauling everything down hoping there is one. And knowing when your machine will be done means no excuses for not pulling your stuff out in a timely manner.

Wow, that laundry website is pretty neat!

When I do laundry on vacation, my husband and I take turns sitting in the laundry room while waiting for our clothes to wash and dry. We usually take a book or tablet with us to pass the time. We have caught people, multiple times, trying to remove or tamper with our laundry on vacation (even at Disney!). I can only imagine what would happen with our clothes should we leave them unattended.

Let me guess, OP. You work at a gas station and want to wash clothes that reek of gasoline, but you don't want to be banned from the laundry room. ;)
