Hi. I read on here before about putting the powder into ziplocs. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? What do you use?

Thanks in advance.

go to dollar store buy the dollar travel pack tide :)

My kids are still in the Dreft-stage, so I bought $.59 travel bottles at Target. I could fit 2 loads-worth in one bottle (when I measured out a cap-size & poured it in), so when I did wash I used 1/2 bottle per load. To put them in my checked luggage, I taped the top on w/ packaging tape so they couldn't pop open & then put them in ziploc baggies just in case they exploded. Worked just fine for me.

These are some great ideas!!! We have 6 people going and we don't want to have alot of luggage to take down. We would rather do a load of laundry at night....don't ask me why?!?!?! :confused3

Does Purex still make the laundry tablets? I bought a box of those a couple of years ago and still have some leftover even though I use a few every trip.

I put mine in a small tupperware container with a tight-fitting lid. (For added assurance, I then put it in a ziploc - would hate to have it spill all over my clothes in my checked luggage!)

I like using the tupperware container because I can easily take a little out to hand-wash swimsuit, etc.

No, this is what I was looking for all this time. Looked everywhere in my area and couldn't find anything.

Did go to the dollar store at lunch and mine didn't have the travel sizes of Tide. I settled for Sun powder (10 load box) for $1.00. I guess it'll work.

This is what we do if flying, with dryer sheets in a baggie as well. When we drive down, we do the same thing or get a small bottle of laundry soap.

I was going to mention the dryer sheets but lovesmickeymouse beat me to it. Don't forget a couple of rolls of quarters. Those Disney machines eat them like candy.:lmao: On humid days it takes forever for the clothes to dry.

And you beat me to the quarters! :rotfl2: Which I forgot to mention! :laundy:

I have also used the 10 load box of Sun detergent from the dollar store. Although i normally would not use this at home it has worked fine for us on vacation.

In the travel size section of Target and Walmart they have Tide and I saw a travel size All (2 loads per bottle, and they are pretty small to pack) about $1.50 each I think.

This is what I bought at our Target-the travel size All. I bought 3 bottles so that should be enough. I could not find any tablets anywhere around here.

Most laundry companies don't make tablets anymore. I was bummed! They were terribly convenient.

Where is the "Travel size" section in Walmart? I've never seen a mini bottle/package of detergent besides Sun or Purex at Dollar Tree or Family Dollar. Sun detergent works pretty well. I've been using the liquid versions for ages.

I have to use unscented detergent on my own clothes, so in the past I've washed out a small drink bottle (like what you'd buy juice in from a vending machine) and put the liquid detergent in for traveling. I measured in the detergent by the capful, marking the sides of the bottle with a permanent marker to show each load's worth. I'd just pour in the correct amount according to the lines. A 12 oz. bottle holds 4-6 loads of detergent, more if you use the concentrated kind. If you put the lid on tight and then put it in a ziploc bag, it should be fine. I'd rather not purchase detergent specially once I get to my destination, so this has worked well for me.

The travel size area is where they keep the bins of travel sized shampoos, deodorants, hairsprays, etc. Sometimes you''ll find those small bottles of liquid Tide there! :thumbsup2

I'd give the Sun Powder a test run at home. The last thing you want is to find out that it causes a rash or some other allergic reaction while on vacation.

Ziploc bags, small tupperware containers, screw top bottles (soda, gatorade, etc.) are going to get the nod from me for those trying to avoid buying travel size packets of detergent.

Just picked up Sun liquidat Dollar Tree does 8 loads and wil pack fabric sheets. Bringing lots of quarters too!!

I also take a bottle of the Shout gel for treating stains... you know for when the :mickeybar melts and runs down the front of the kid's shirt or whatever mess you might need it for. I usually bring one from home that's not so full so I can toss it at the end of the trip. Just something else I like to have. It's also good to use and leave on even if you don't wash until you come home. It's made to be left on for up to 7 days.
