Laundry for Studios Question

I want to make sure I have this right....

We will be staying in a VWL studio. Since studios do not have washers/dryers within them, free laundry facilities are available; i.e. a central location with washer/dryers that are free to use? Would this be on each floor of the resort or one central laundry room within VWL resort?

TIA!

I haven't stayed at VWL but in all of the single building studios I have stayed in there has been 1 room for the resort- normally with 2-3 washers and dryers. These are not necessarily centrally located- in BLT the 1 room is on the first floor.

The laundry room at VWL is located on the ground floor around the corner from the lift.

They may have coin slots, but in DVC laundry rooms, you just push in the coin slot and the washer/dryer turns on. Newer rooms require key card access. Each DVC does have free laundry -- location will vary.

And to confirm....these are free, correct?
The washers and dryers are free but not the detergent. You can purchase those little boxes ($1 each I think) from a vending machine in the laundry room or you could buy a larger bottle of detergent in the resort store.

There aren't many washers so you may have to wait for one.

Sorry to hijack the thread: detergent is included for the 1-bedroom and up rooms, correct?

or you can bring something from home. (cheaper)

Purex has the 3 in one sheets, detergent, fabric softener and fabric dryer sheet. They are a little expensive (less then $1 a piece though) I have them in my owners locker.

We used the PUREX sheets on our last vacation and they worked very well. They were well worth the price and travel very well in your suitcase.

:thumbsup2 I used the laundry at AKV several times and it was great. No one in there and a great flat screen TV. Who wouldn't mind doing laundry, there? Although I used to have interesting conversations late at night with the folks sharing machines at Pop. ::yes:: I use the Tide one load packs in the $1 section at WalMart. :laundy:

At VWL, the laundry is on the first floor. It is not far off the villas lobby. It is definately free, as I used it last summer a few times, including using the dryer to dry our wet swim suits. As for detergent, there are machines and I think a one time use of tide was about $1. For me, its easy enough to just pay the dollar and not think about bringing detergent. The VWL lobby is a great place to relax while you wait - also the gym is right there. Our room was on the first floor so we were pretty close to the laundry. I can't say for sure if there were any other laundry facilities on other floors because I looked no further than the one on the first floor, but I don't think that there are any others. In BLT, the laundry was only on the first floor.

We are staying at Kidani 5/31 - 6/11 in a studio, I am so glad I had my laundry question answered by this thread :) Looks like I should do laundry more often if there are only 3 washers/dryers and we are driving so I am bringing laundry detergent. It is free to do laundry!! Which is even better :thumbsup2 I would love to be able to watch TV while doing laundry! I hope there is one at Kidani! I get so bored ;)

Sounds like we might have run into each other at POP. ;) That place has got to be the busiest laundry in all of WDW!

I use the Purex One sheets and have been happy traveling with them.

Keep in mind that most of the washers are now HE and require special (or less) detergent...the Tide that they provide is not HE. Also on an aside note, there is a speed wash and a speed dry on the new machines. They are great, just make sure you lower the setting once you program the dryer. Everytime I go to use a machine I arrive after someone puts their clothes in for 180 min of washing:confused3
