We will be staying at POFQ in from October 4th - 12th. I'm debating if we should do laundry like half way through our trip so we can pack less clothes. How are the laundry facilities?

We used the laundry facilities at POR last time we were there and everything was fine. There must have been a machine with detergent etc.. I remember them being clean and neat. :flower3:

I did laundry last year at POFQ and won't do it again this year. It's too expensive and too time consuming.

Unless you are staying for an extended period, pack the clothes you need and do the laundry when you get home.

We used the laundry at Poly. The machines sucked and did NOT get the clothes clean and half were broke. The cost is negligible but if you have to do it bring lots of quarters and your own laundry detergent and dryer sheets. :laundy: Cindy

I always do laundry mid-way through a trip. It does take a long time, especially as the dryers usually take a double cycle to get everything really dry. However, I can't imagine taking twice as many clothes in order to avoid laundry.

POFQ laundry is fine, bright and clean. The Machines cost $2 to use. It took about 1 1/2 hours to get it all done, was was worth it for me.

Usually I spend $2 wash, $4 dry ('cause you have to buy 2 cycles of 30 minutes each). Time well spent! Get a snack, or go for a swim while you wait.

I always do laundry during our stay because I prefer to pack a bit less (and there is usually an afternoon when the kids need down time and I'm too hyped up on chocolate-dipped Mickey-shaped Rice Krispie treats!)

I have a few suggestions for you, either way:

Bring a Shout stain stick in case someone gets a spill (if the garment sits in the laundry bag for a few days it will be even more likely to stain).

Buy your laundry detergent and dryer sheets before you leave home.
Target sells travel-size (4 loads worth) of liquid Tide and travel size Bounce sheets. These are sometimes sold at the Dollar Store, too. :thumbsup2

I made a mistake of forgetting the laundry supplies on our last trip. I bought some detergent and bounce in the store on the 4th floor of the CR. It was expensive-- but I had to have it, right? Then I went over to the laundry room in the South Wing and saw the same supplies for 50 cents less in the vending machine. LOL I felt like a chump. :headache:

Doing laundry at the resorts isn't bad. I have had only one negative experience with some pushy grumps at the Poly (they were taking people's stuff out and dumping the wet clothes everywhere). I never leave my clothes in the machines anyway but witnessing that clinched it for me. In general, people have been super nice and even donating leftover laundry supplies to people who may need some. :goodvibes
