We are staying at POP this Sept. and was wondering how the laundry facilities are? Are there a few washers/dryers at each of the pool areas? When would be a good time to try to use them without a wait?
Thank you.

I think I read somewhere that it costs $2 for a wash and $2 to dry.

you also may want to bring either small ziploc bags from home with your detergent in them or go to Walmart and see if they have the 3 oz sizes of laundry detergent. The detergent is not in the laundry areas at POP you have to purchase it at Everything pop and its pricey!!

the three oz bottles of liquid detergent at walmart i think was 97cents. I found them in the Super Walmart on Sand lake rd and John Young parkway the ones that are closer to WDW may have them too. they are good for 2 loads!

If i also remember correctly there was about 3- washers and about 6 dryers could be more it was in March when i was there/

my mom or I went in the AM to do laundry or mid afternoon. and Hung aroudn the pool while clothes were being washed and dried!

I had to use the laundry facilities at Pop in February. Before I lugged all my laundry to the facility, I'd check to make sure that the one I was going to was in operating order. I learned my lesson the hard way. I got to the facility near one of the quiet pools and found out they were working on it and it wouldn't be up and running for 1/2 hour or more. I then went to the facility by the main pool. No problem there. If I remember right there were more than 3 and 6 washers and dryers at this one and I'm sure I bought my detergent right there also. Maybe I'm wrong though. I know I did three loads of laundry and there were a few more folks in there also. Hope this helps. Lynn

Before I go on vacation I always run by my local laundry matt and pick up a couple of boxes of laundry soap. At home? .50 .... at Disney? $2. It's worth the trip!

Remember when they used to sell those laundry tabs? I loved those they were so easy to take on vacation. I hate that they stopped selling them.

BTW the laundry at the 50's pool definitely has more then three washers. At least 6 or 8.

For a resort the size of Pop, I would hope there are more than 6 or 8 washers! But then again, I only found 2 washers in a small room at the Yacht Club last year and ONE of those was spilling water all over.... so I guess the resorts may not expect many guests to do laundry.

Are there laundry facilities at each of the pools at Pop? Are they open-air or within a building?

We used the laundry facilities at the main pool and found them to be pretty nice. Clean and not at all busy despite the fact I didn't think there were that many machines. Change machine was out once and that was annoying because the bar wouldn't do change for me and I had to lug my basket all over. I can't remember cost to use. I agree picking up deterg. in advance is a great idea. Target sells a small Tide (maybe 4 laods).

We use the laundry at the main pool and have always been able to find a free washer and dryer. We didn't expect to be doing laundry on our first trip but I am sure we bought the detergent right there in the laundry toom. I know we didn't have to go to Everything Pop to buy it ( things may have changed though). This trip I am going to remember to buy some at Target before we go !

I can't speak for when the poster who claimed purchasing the stuff at Everything Pop.. was travelling.

But I was there this past March and I paid 2$ or laundry soap .. which I purchased right in the laundry room by the 50's pool.

There's a set of laundry rooms by each major pool at Pop.. which means three rooms of washers / dryers spread around the resort.

1) by the 50's pool

2) by the Hippy Dippy Pool

3) by the computer pool.

Hope this helps.

I used the laundry room at the bowling pin pool. It was clean and I had no trouble finding free machines; it was early one morning, as I recall. By the time I was finished it was getting busier in there. I'm pretty sure I bought detergent from a machine right in the laundry room.

Thanks for all the posts. Any and all info helps me be a little more prepared?
The above quote says "early one morning"-about what time was that?

I guess I am thinking mid day would be the least crowded for doing laundry with evenings/night when people return from the parks being the most crowded. I was thinking of doing laundry in the morning one day but just wasn't sure how early to plan. (We are not an early morning family but will not be at the hotel any afternoon. ) I would hate to have to wait for a machine.

I used the one by the computer pool in Feb. It was late Sunday night (maybe 9 or 10 pm). It was empty except for one other guest. It was an enclosed building. This is the worst picture in the world......I took a couple of pics of my kids chillin' nearby as I was doing laundry. You can just barely see the laundry room off to the left in this pic. Sorry for the quality.....I wasn't intending on taking a pic of the laundry per say.

Late evening - after 9PM - seems to be the best time to do laundry at Pop. We found the 8 to 10 washers and the 8 to 10 dryers to be very clean. (We used the ones by the Bowling Pin pool). It costs $2 to wash and $2 to dry. Dryers may take two cycles, however. We brought our own soap, but I remember others getting some from a machine right in the laundry area. You can get in and out of the laundry after 10PM with your room key.

Happy laundering. :laundy:
