I know the title of my thread is a bit boring (laundry - yuck) but I hate dirty clothes piling up, so I did the laundry on the trip. Anyway, the laundry room was closed on deck 6 (not far from my cabin), so I went up to deck 7. I figured I would go early and beat the crowds - well, 6:30 was not early enough!! The washers and dryers are very small, and all in use - after waiting in line and using 2 cycles for the dryer to get the clothes dry, I ended up wasting about 3 hours of valuable cruise time. I would advise that anyone doing laundry bite the buttet a bit and get up at 5:00 to get it started.

I am going to TRY to pack enough this time so we don't have to do laundry. I also got tired of sitting in the laundry room waiting for machines to open up. I pack so much 'junk' last time, so this time I am going to try to put in enough t-shirts adn 'unmentionables' to get us through the week. Haven't started packing yet, so I don't know if it will work, but that is my current plan.

(BTW, if you do want to do laundry and you like dryer sheets, bring you own. They only had liquid Downey availabe to purchase. I handed out all of my extra dryer sheets to others in the laundry room with me).

We're doing a week at WDW before the cruise so I'm planning on doing laundry the night before the cruise while we're at the Radisson.

Not sure if I'm going to do it at the hotel or go to a laundry mat. The laundry mat will probably win out since their machines are larger and I can do it all in 2 loads.

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to take my own "supplies" or just buy them when we get down there. I'm kinda picky about my detergent.

Which day of the cruise was the laundry room already packed by 6:30am?

The last cruise we when on, the laundry rooms were pretty much wide open until after lunch, until the day at CC... then it seemed like you had to get up at 3:00am? to get access to machines.

And I'd suggest taking your own supplies. Takes a little room in luggage, but much cheaper. For convenience, I found a detergent (don't recall which one now) that comes in individually packaged tablets. I found that to be very convenient.

Okay. I know this is going to throw some people but my family (DH, me, DS - 23, and DS - 16) along with my best friend from high school all took the 7 day Magic this past July. We had 2 connecting cat 10s. I told everyone to pack plenty of extra clothing because I was not washing on vacation! Yeah RIGHT! Clothes were piling up quickly! So, my friend and I found that if you just come back onto the ship a little early from your day on the island, the laundry room on deck 7 is EMPTY!! Believe it or not, we washed 3 different times and had to wait once for about 5 minutes to get a washer!

She and I both burn really quickly so it wasn't a problem to enjoy Cozumel or CC for a few hours and come back to do the laundry. Then, we'd go back in the evening and shop! (Of course not CC because we had to be back onboard by 4:30. We came back on the ship about 1:30 or 2:00 that day)

Perhaps we had problems because the deck 6 laundry was closed. In any event, I would prefer to get up early and do it before my cruise day begins.

Speaking of laundry, I have been looking for the laundry tabs that come individually wrapped, but found them. What brand are they? Thanks.

I used to use Tide tablets - loved them but they have been discontinued. I have not found them carried in any of the large discount or bulk stores either. I read on Tide's message board that Purex makes a brand however I have never located them.

I found the Tide tabs at BIG LOTS. Someone on this board gave us the heads up that they found them there. I bought 2 boxes of them and am saving them just for travel.

Does anyone know how long the laundry room on Deck 6 is going to be closed. Hopefully, not permanently.

Is the laundry room on deck 6 on the MAGIC closed? OH NO! That would really make it harder to do laundry. We leave in 3 weeks. Does anyone know?

I was on the Magic last week, and a section on the starboard side of deck 6 was closed because of rennovations. I'm not sure how large the section was, but it was in the area of the laundry. I spoke with one on the workmen who said that the ships are always having work done on a rotational basis. We saw alot of painting being done on deck 9. I wasn't told, but I was under the impression that the work would not take too long, so I would think the laundry would be back in service soon, if not already. If not, deck 7 laundry is fine, and only a little inconvenient for deck 6 passengers.

We are on deck 5, so the location isn't the problem. I am just thinking with one laundry room closed it will be VERY crowded in the other laundry room.

Thanks for letting us know what was happening last week.

Is there a laundry room on every floor on the wonder or just 6 and 7

Well Skyhawk, maybe it was me who beat you to the laundry on Deck 7. I was up and out of our cabin (6610) by 5:45 a.m. Went to Guest Services to get quarters, then high-tailed it back to the room to get the laundry. I was the first one in the Deck 7 laundry on Wednesday, 8/18. I did two loads. When I came back to take stuff out of the dryer around 7:15 a.m. it was SRO and all machines were in use. Some nice person put more money in one of my dryers to run another cycle. I think I forgot to say "thank you" (it was still too early in the morning for me!)

I used Purex tablets that we brought from home (Shaws / Star Market carries them.)

I found the Purex tabs at either Kroger or Meijer. Can't remember for sure but it was last June before our trip to WDW. They came in really handy and take up almost no space. I packed the tabs, dryer sheets and a stain stick in a ziploc bag and I was all set to do laundry at the Yacht Club!!

Another option, if you dont mind the cost but hate dirty clothes piling up is to send them to laundry service. I think that is what we will do, midweek, pick out what we need and send it off. Well worht not having to deal with the headache od laundry. OP spent 3 hours of her precious vacation time doing housework. Heck, you are on vacation, splurge a little. It seems link I sent off about 7-10 items and it was maybe $40 if that much? I know there is a price list somewhere. Maybe on Barbs site? But anyways, given the OPs time of 3 hours that was a little over $10 an hour. I do not know about yall but my time is worth more than that. Just a suggestion :-) ( ** That was the best piece of advice I got off this board)

Laundry is port side on deck 2 - starboard on decks 6 and 7.

We are doing 3 weeks starting next weekend - plan to do laundry on Saturday. The rest of you can have the room during the week
