Launch Bay details question

Hi!
I have not been able to find this specific information in a search.
Is it possible to skip most of the Launch Bay exhibits and go right to the character meet lines? Or is the Launch Bay just a really nice character line?

We did not make it to the LB on our WDW trip, so I have no idea how it is set up.
We are more interested in the two characters than the props . . .

The character lines are independent of the rest of the LB.

And it is awesome! Lots of character interaction. My little boy went crazy. The photographers at Disney are all really great. We only had one photopass photo turn out blurry. I was undecided about the photo pass and kept thinking mine were better until I saw how our free ones from the Disney visa meet and greet at DCA turned out and had to buy the rest of them which was on our last day. Because, duh, I'm not a professional photographer, they are. I wish that we had taken advantage of the noncharacter photopass photo opportunities. Such a better use of my money than the pho at paradise garden grill.

There are two fixed character meet and greet locations (currently featuring Chewie and Darth Vader, currently, who meet pretty much all day). Boba Fett also meets over in the Cantina (part of Launch Bay) - check the Disneyland App for his schedule (it used to be random/unannounced, but I noticed lately that they're putting times down for him too).
