Does anyone know if they use latex, vinyl or nitril gloves for food prep at WDW? This will be my first trip back to WDW since my latex allergy has gotten bad.
Also, are there any other unexpected sources of latex exposure that I might not currently be aware of? I'd love to survive the week with as few benadryl doses as possible (and no epi pen usage...please.)
Sorry, I've been off the board for almost exactly 4 months, so I didn't reply to this sooner. You can find a lot of information about latex allergies on AllEars at
http://allears.net/pl/latex.htm where I wrote an article about latex allergies there. I admit, it's been 685 days since I was last at WDW (but who's counting... I am, darn it!), but it has the most current information that I have available, plus what is available that I've written on here.
The one attraction I'd be very concerned about would be Lights, Motors, Action stunt show. They have burning rubber tires from all the various stunts, plus driving through fire, so it might be unsafe for you from what you've said.
I almost forgot... depending on your cross reactivity, you might want to be very careful about eating at 'Ohana as they use A LOT of pineapple. Similarly, if you ARE reactive to pineapple (as I am), I would STRONGLY advise you NOT to get ANYTHING at Aloha Isle in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom. Even though I had a vanilla soft ice cream there, and it came from a machine that did NOT also serve the pineapple Dole Whip, I found myself reacting. Therefore, I would recommend considering it to be avoided if you have problems with pineapple, as I do. Similarly, if you need to avoid Aloha Isle, you should consider doing the same at Captain Cook's at the Polynesian, for the same reason.
