Latest Virgin possible strike info

I think we are all in a wait and see situation. The ballot papaers have only just finished going out and they have three weeks to send them back.
Virgin management are arranging meetings with senior crew next week to explain thier final offer to them.

Hi there
I am traveling on my honeymoon on the 7th october to florida is this going to affect me?? I am very worried.

Update.
The management have made a new pay and conditions offer to the Union.:-

4.8% rise in basic back dated to April 1st

RPI rise in basic next year. (estimated 3.5%)

5 months of standby in 3 yrs (one's you've already done still count)
1 month is a stability block
You can request days off in ALL standby months (If these are granted they are guaranteed, if they are not you get 2 other guaranteed days off)

Crew down would be increased by 4.8% (This is covered in the pay deal documents as 4.8% rise on all variable elements)

No change to airshare.

Crew compliment to remain the same on A346.

The union are now saying that this has to be voted upon before a vote for strike action, so this will now take any action past the October half term time.

I think this latest offer might crack the cabin crews resolve especially if they are the senior crew members as the deal is targetted towards the long timers.

If I was able to offer my staff 3.8% there would be a great party and joyous celebration; 4.8%, they'd be on their knees, bowing in my honour and declaring me a God!:lmao:

Sounds like a fair deal the 4.8%, backdated to April, and RPI for the next year!

Claire ;)

I KNOW!!!! My staff have had to accept no pay rise for the past two years just toi keep us viable against foreign competitors.
On some forums Virgin staff are compalining that its "only" the rare of inflation and not a pay rise!
they are living in cloud Cuckoo land!

Thanks for the update Obi, sure I'm not the only one breathing easily again. I was worried as we also fly October half-term, one less thing to worry about.

Perhaps the Virgin staff need to realise that this is an excellent offer. As nurses we have only had a 2.5% rise, as yet we have not received it. In England it is even less! Virgin staff need to take a reality check.

With 30 days to go and planning virtually complete I had convinced myself that this threatened action would hit us.

After the contributions by Obi and trawling through a couple of other industry web forums I believe I can relax just a little as it seems to me a full out strike is pretty unlikely. Virgin seem to have pitched their offer quite cleverly along lines akin to divide and rule.

I agree with posters views on the reality of pay deals in the current climate but it is symptomatic of unions beginning to flex their muscles in the post Blair era.

But there is a tunnel at the end of my light today. I am a distraught Welsh rugby supporter who is still in shock at seeing my national team experiencing the magic of Disney. At 6 pm this evening we were shown to be very much a Mickey Mouse Outfit coached by Dumbo:confused3

Being a fellow Welshman but not a rugby supporter, my wife is and she is drinking to try and blot out the memory of the match, we think Dumbo could do a better job. With those ears he would listen more!:headache:

I had completely convinced myself we were going to be majorly delayed! My holiday too is planned to the last detail, so this would be typical. I now realise how worried I was, by how relieved I am now!!! Thanks Obi for breaking the news.

ps. also Welsh here, love the analogy!
