I was just sent a pin code via email. How do you know what it is for exactly?
Has anyone recently gotten one that will expire on July 28th?
Out of curiosity, if they give you one for free dining, but you would prefer a room discount instead, will they honor that request with a pin code?

The email usually describes the discount - does it not say "free dining offer" or "room discount" etc.?

The few times we've received a PIN, the code was for a specific discount - no transfer to another type.

The PIN we got had a room discount offer OR free dining. We could choose. But no they will not let you change the PIN code offer.

I have a pin that I received a couple weeks ago in the mail...expiring on July 28, I think. It is for free dining, or a room discount...but the room discount is for dates in August and September only. Dining is several dates through the rest of the year. I have never received a pin that didn't have specific details associated with it.

I just checked the email again and it gives no specific details on the discount.
It says to be sure to mention the code when booking. It refers to the dates (December 2012) and resort that I have been looking up on their website over the past week or so.

Thanks for your replies. For those who have received resort room discounts, what has the discount been? Any for early December 2012?

Generally speaking, the room discount depends on the level of resort you are considering. The higher the level the greater the percentage off.

I got the same one (pretty sure it's probably the same?) and the room discount is for different dates than the dining discount. If it's not telling you in the email, I would call and ask for details so that you can better prepare.

As for the room discount, I think there's one on WDW website right now. Even though the room prices are different right now, you could at least get an idea of what the percentage would be, I would think. For mine, it's up to 30% off (deluxe). You really need to figure out which would be better for YOU. Would you rather put your money towards a nicer room and then pay for dining OOP or would you rather stay at a moderate and get free dining, etc. The discount you get staying at a nicer resort may not be worth it if you're having to spend $$ OOP on all your food. You need to figure out if your room discount would be greater than the amount you would spend in food. For us (8 paying, 1 free), the free dining is WAY cheaper than a room discount. We're fine staying at AoA and getting free dining. We're able to stay for 10 days instead of half that time at a moderate. So really, it all comes down to figuring out what your bottom dollar is going to be and how much you would spend/save in each situation.
