We have the Fantasy in the sky New Years Eve (12/31) dessert party for the first show booked. How long do they keep the buffet open and what is the latest you can check in to the pre party?

I'm not sure if I can answer your questions, but I have been to the NYE Fantasy in the Sky Dessert Party twice. The viewing area does get crowded and people STILL put their kids on their shoulders :headache:. I would get there as soon as it opens, grab your dessert and make it to the main attraction which is the viewing area and stake out your spot. Tonight is not the night to cut things close.

Thanks! Rain and thunderstorms forecasted for the next hour. We are gathering our ponchos and stroller cover and heading back to Mk in another 15 mins

Have fun! I <3 NYE at the MK!
It’s barely a drizzle and thanks for the tip. There was no line to board the monorail and gate check at Mk, thanks to the rain. We also got sat at the dessert party right away. I have to say they’ve improved their allergy friendly offerings and except for a few items, the dessert offerings seem better. I still wish they had spring rolls, but the cheese was fresh (vs spring break) and they did have a cupcake decorating station for the kids.

It’s barely a drizzle right now but we have our ponchos with us and are seated at the front of the grass (clear view of Cinderellas Castle), but I’m sure that will change closer to the start of the party (the entire green grass area is full.

There was just an announcement in the desert party right now (16 mins before fireworks) that you can’t hold kids on your shoulder. They made a few people take off kids from their shoulders.

It looks like from the pics, it’s crowded, but not so tight a child couldn’t see, right? Considering the pre-party during a busy week. Kids 6 and 12.

Yes. The fireworks are mostly up high. Projections could be slightly blocked but you don’t need to be standing right behind someone tall. There was room to move slightly if someone’s view was blocked and plenty of room for people behind to shuffle.

We were not told to go up to the rail but were told to keep the walkway clear many times as some kids kept running up to the rail (usually done 5 mins before fireworks), so the walkway was kept clear the entire time.

In contrast, for the Christmastime fireworks on 12/28 we stood by the white line (got in about 40 mins before) that goes from Casey’s to the Ice cream parlor and there was no room to move or step (even around a stroller, it was shoulder to shoulder) at all so any kid in-between was probably not going to see much with the adults around. We were so glad we didn’t pay for the dessert party that day.
