Hi All,

We are going in January, and are planning to see how the year-end budgets go before we commit to the Dining Plan. Right now we have a room only reservation. Is it possible to add a Dining Plan at check-in? Would they honestly refuse if you asked?

I know we have to buy the tickets AND Dining Plan and make it all a package.

Thanks,

You cannot add dining at check in, and yep, they'll refuse you (I guess they figure by then you're committed to the visit and gonna pay full price out of pocket, lol).

But, you can call and add it before you arrive. I've heard various reports about 3 days before but also 5 days before, so I'd probably try to do it a week before you arrive just to be safe, lol.

We have an Annual Pass, so we don't have to buy a ticket to get paid dining (we do have to buy at least 1 day ticket to get free dining, but that 1 day can be used later).

I'm not sure what non-AP holders have to do......but I'm guessing you do have to buy a ticket to get the dining, because whenever I try to check package prices on line it won't let me eliminate the ticket without the food part disappearing too. But I'm not 100% positive on that.

Thanks - makes sense. I'm guessing they make an exception for AP holders and the Dining Plan.

See - that's another issue for us. If there's a good bounceback, then we'll want to upgrade to an AP, but I guess we would get the full value of the tickets if we do upgrade, so it would be a non-issue.

Not only can you not add the dining plan at check-in, you cannot add it to a room only reservation. That reservation would need to be converted into a room/tickets package if you are not an AP holder.

Packages have different payment, deposit and cancellation rules. For example, a package must be paid in full 45 days prior to arrival. If you change your reservation to a package, and it is within 45 days of checkin, and add the dining plan, you must then pay for your entire vacation - room, tickets, and dining plan - in full when you book the package. Because you're within 45 days of checkin, you're subject to a penalty if you cancel.

Keep in mind your room only will have to be cancelled and refunded and your new package with tickets and dining will have to be payed in full. If you wait until the 72 hours mark to do all this I doubt youll have your room only deposit refunded in time for your trip
