late Sept Waitlist Strategy

Hi all, I'm a new BLT owner and I've just done my first waitlist for 9 / 23-25 1 BR. I waitlisted both the LV and MK, but now I have a couple of questions.

Should I (and can I) book another property for those dates while I'm waitlisted, or do I need to do a cash reservation as a backup?

If I could move us to GF I would consider doing this as well (we really want to be on the monorail for this trip.)

Yes, you can book another room and waitlist at BLT. If BLT comes through, it would supplant your reservation.
GF is not a DVC property. You can book on points, but it will take a lot of points. Maybe look into VWL? It's not on the monorail, but very close to BLT and has a dedicated boat to MK?

You could also just do a cash reservation for GF and waitlist at BLT (so as to not use a ton of points at GF). A short waitlist like that at a relatively slow time of year probably has a good chance of coming through.

Thanks! My points are kindof use or lose ones since they've already been banked so using them at GF is no problem. If I do book there using points not cash, would I be on "reservation status" and not be able to waitlist BLT....am I thinking correctly on this?

IF you use points for GF, then you cannot use those points at BLT if the waitlist. So, if you want to keep your waitlist, book whatever you want for cash, something you can get your deposit back on when/if your waitlist comes through! Or book something else for points and the points will switch to your BLT villa if the waitlist comes through.

As an aside I had banked 2010 points into my 2011 use year with they used for my 2012 trip I booked before this, so I've been banking and borrowing all over the place probably without needing to...but I think it'll be all good

Also member services has been superpatient with me too

I'm glad MS is giving you the help you need! I hope your waitlist comes through, but if it doesn't, VWL is my favorite resort and I hope you like it too! I'll be at AKV with some DGalFs earlier in September, and we'll be going to the first MNSSHP of the year! I was hoping there would be one when we would be there, and we're all so glad! For 2 of my DFs it will be their first MNSSHP!

DD was excited about VWL so we'll see? I'm just excited about when our first BLT stay will actually be, either Sept or Feb!

and your GF's I know will LOVE the Halloween party. It's our Disney must do every year...the only thing that would make it more perfect for me is staying in a new rumored Haunted Mansion Room!

Oh, how did you get this? I'm on a waitlist for BLT also but I checked VWL the other day and they said nothing. I need some of your luck on timing I guess

Hi Jenn, I think perhaps I was extremely lucky....yesterday I got to thinking (errr panicking) that I had waitlisted BLT two ways but hadn't booked ANYthing so I called yesterday afternoon around 4ish I think and told em I'll take what I can get and was told they had:

Yacht Club
VWL
and CBR

for the dates I mentioned?!

weirdly, there's a pair of payless shoes I've been DYING for and they were sold out in my size and pretty much unavailable ANYwhere locally until this morning when my size popped up online? So maybe today I need to buy a lotto ticket or something?
