Late seating at Minnies breakfast

I'm thinking if getting a late seating for Minnie's this weekend. Park opens at 8 and there's a heat wave coming in, so I thought an indoor meal for early lunch might be a nice break. But I've heard mixed reviews of getting the last seating. Would love to hear your experiences on the character interactions and the freshness of the food. I've never done Minnie's.

I have a couple of options. Saturday EMH at DL with Minnie's at 10:30, then escape to CA to avoid Gay Days crowds at DL, or Sunday EMH at CA, then head over to DL around 10:30 to escape Gay Days crowds, with Minnie's at 10:50.

I was going to eat lunch at Goofy's, but the idea of the walk to DLH in the heat is not appealing. Am I right to think the monorail won't be running this weekend?

I would recommend eating at Minnie's at 10:30, rather than 10:50. The characters will leave promptly at 11:30. If your reservation is for 10:50, it will probably take about 10 minutes to check in, get your photo taken, get seated and then get your food. That only gives you 30 minutes to see the characters, and they probably won't all be able to visit your table in that amount of time.

We've always done 10 or 10:30 seatings for Minnie's and have always had good character interactions. The key is, though, to make sure they don't seat you in a corner that isn't easily accessible by the characters. We always ask to be seated right along an aisle, and if they try to stick us in the corner (which they've done 2 out of 4 times) we just ask for a better seat and wait a couple minutes for other groups to finish up.

this sounds like great advice! Our last trip we didn't do any char meals and I really want to do one next time.

If you prefer Goofy's Kitchen, you could take the monorail and end up fairly close to there.

Does it have to be a character meal? I'd do first lunch seating at Carnation or Blue Bayou at 11am.

We did a late seating for Minnie's and were sat outside by ourselves. After 45 minutes we had to complain since no characters had come by. They would do the porch but never came down. We did see 3-4 in the next 20 minutes, but then families from inside and the porch kept butting in. It was awful. I have heard a few similar stories about the late seatings.

We had the same experience with a 10:50 seating (which I think is the last of the day). Never again will I do a character meal so close to closing. It was horrible.

ETA: I see above that somebody said all the characters leave at 11:30. That was not our experience (they did stay later than that), but it still took a lot to get any to come to our table.
