late risers

At Disney, I try to get up at 6am and wake the kids up at 7am and then have breakfast in the room and by 8am we are set to go and by noon, we're on our way back to our resort.

I am a late riser myself.. but in Disney.. I do what I have to do to make things easier for me and my children like getting a lot of things done without waiting in a long line and not being in the heat.

I love to sleep in, and I love to stay up super late at night, but for Disney it's totally different. I am always so excited each morning that I wake up at the crack of dawn - just like how it's impossible to sleep in on Christmas morning when you're 8 years old LOL.

Not only that, but I am addicted to Disney food. I love having a nice big Disney breakfast every morning, and if we don't get up by 9 a.m. at the latest we'll miss breakfast. I'm planning to get up between 7 and 9 a.m. every morning this trip. Although we won't make it to the parks until around 11 each day because of breakfast. I don't think I could ever make it to a park "opening" LOL.

Me and DH always have been early risers. I normally went with my sis and my niece to WDW and they (especially niece) are late sleepers!! When we stayed at WL I woke up early (since I wanted to video the lobby with no one in it) and took a walk on the nature trail and saw the coolest owl - I thought it was fake at first - you know how Disney places those little extra touches here and there - I thought that was one!! Then I saw it move its head and realized it was real (down here we have only small owls and you don't see them very often) Normally we get to the parks late and start off eating lunch.

So when I went with DH it was wierd to actually get to AK before it opened (I was surprised by the opening ceremony - since I have never seen one before!!) we actually did everything we wanted to do at AK by lunch time (the same time my sis would have been getting there) We shall see how this trip with DH will be - I am sure it will be up early!! I will report back next week when I get back.

To each their own. I'm glad so many of you like the afternoon etc.

For me, I never miss rope drop. Why wait an hour if you can wait 15 min? Why wait 15 min when you can walk on to your attractions?

For me, it is definately worth it to go in the mornings.

Late riser here!

I'm am not in any way shape or form a morning person, but I try my best when at Disney. That doesn't include making rope drop though! I try to be at the bus stop by 9:30am-10am and most of the time I manage to do that. :teeth:

It's part of the reason I always go during slower times of year and I really haven't had any problems with doing/seeing eveything.

Everyone says you HAVE to get to Fantasyland early, first thing, but I find going around and after dinner time works well too. When we went in early May, we
went to FL around 6pm and it was practically deserted! Wait time for Dumbo was 10 minutes and we walked onto to everything else. Lines for characters were alot shorter in Toontown then too.

It takes a bit of planning, but you CAN be a late riser and still avoid lines and crowds...especially at the time you are going.

I'd love to make a rope drop one day, but I just don't know if it's in me...I'm going to keep trying though! I gotta see what it's like just once! :rotfl:

Hehe I love all you people who aren't there at opening - that's why between 9am and 11am I can get in more rides than most people can between noon and six. :)

The later you show up the better (for me!). ;)

Seriously, I am not an early riser either in general, but in the parks I find it invaluable. While I love nighttime in the parks, I also adore first thing in the morning. Everything is fresh and new and quiet...LOVE IT!

N.E.D.

i don't know how i'm going to manage to get my gf out of bed every morning when were at disney... Hopefully she'll be excited enough that we will be able to be out for the first bus every morning. when we are at home it takes me half an hour to cajole her out of bed every morning.
