This will be our third trip over the holidays so we fully know what we are getting into. We have had great success utilizing rope drop and will this trip but we also are adding a day with an afternoon start (12/26).
This would mean we all could probably handle a late night at a park on Christmas day (say 9 PM ish to 12 PM ish or little later depending on park hours). Clearly the MK daytime crowds will be insane and we will avoid as we have done in the past. But what are the crowds like from 9 PM on at MK? How about Epcot? - specifically on Christmas day.

Thanks!

EPCOT evening EMH on Christmas Day was fairly productive last year, (we walked into the TT pre-design room as Illuminations started) as it seemed most guests were fed up with the craziness and left after the fireworks.
Christmas Eve was very productive after the fireworks ... But there were a few hours of rain before the fireworks so many guests were wet and tired.
MK generally holds crowds pretty well until 1am

I was there on Christmas 3 years ago. I found from 10pm- 1am to be very manageable. The crowds started to dwindle after the evening fireworks/parades. We did a VERY EARLY rope drop at AK at around 7 am. We stayed until 11am and got some rest at the hotel. The crowds started to really pick up at that time. We went to MK at around 10pm and were able to get in quite a few attractions.

That is almost exactly what we are planning to do! We did AK too last time. We went with 7 AM RD (although it isn't showing that early of an open…yet) It was very manageable and then we enjoyed the pool in the warm December sun in the afternoon followed by dinner at Whispering Canyon. This year we are doing AK in the AM and Raglan Road in the evening. Figured if all or some of us are up to it - a late night at MK or Epcot would be a great way to end the day.
