Late morning would you eat at the POP Century food court or counter service at MGM?

We'll be checking in somewhat early (about 10:30am) and then heading straight to MGM.... but we'll be hungry for lunch (getting up at 5:30am)

So my question is: should we eat first at the POP Century food court or head to MGM and eat a counter service meal there?

I guess the reason I'm asking is that so few people seem to enjoy the CS meals at MGM. We will have the free dining, if that matters.

We almost alway arive about that time in the am
We usally eat at the resort we are staying. Gives us a minute to just breathe & check out all our tickets & such then we go to the park.
I find it easier if we eat so we are not a little cranky walking into a park.

Like 3crazymice, we avoid cs at DS-MGM, too.

We tried it years ago, but we checked out multiple cs and the burgers were all gray. We chose the cs that had the least gray burgers, but DS got sick :headache: . On that trip we checked out the burgers at MK and EP and didn't see a single gray one. Not sure why, but it semed to be a DS-MGM anomaly  .

Plus, if you eat at the resort, you can hit the park running and don't have to stop and eat :thumbsup2

Just about all the CS at MGM is icky so I avoid it at all costs!! Definitely go for Pop's food court! I love their meatball sub and their chicken soup is yummy too! :thumbsup2

I'd vote for eating at Pop's Food Court too. If you are getting refillable mugs you can get all the refills you wish with your meal there, and also, if there are any transportation problems getting to MGM (traffic, long wait for bus), you might have very rumbly tummies by the time you get there. ;)

And I'll echo the other posters here with the sentiment that counter service at MGM always seems rather lackluster, compared to the other parks, while POP seems to have more offerings, all in one convenient location.

I would definitely vote for Pop's Food court. I miss it, we really liked the food there. For a foodcourt it was very good. plus as other posters said it gives everyone a chance to regroup before hitting a park. We like Toy Story for counter service in MGM but that's really because it makes DS so happy, not so much for the food...LOL.

We LOVE Pop's food court and have actually left a park to go back to the resort and eat because they have much better selection than 'most' park CS. They have much more than just burgers, fries, and pizza :thumbsup2 and the food tastes great!

I would say grab a bite to eat at POP! No matter how you travel or how far, a little down time is needed, in our opinion, before heading off to one of the parks! :thumbsup2
:wave2: CJ-don't forget about Tangierine Cafe and the Bread Pudding at Raglan Road!;)

Pop Food Court! Yummy flatbreads! I go to Pop for those even when not staying there :)

pop has a great food court considering its a value resort. if you like coffee flavor you've gotta try the twinkie tirimisu!!! it's so good.

tricia.

I had heard that too, so I wanted to be sure to get some on our trip 3 weeks ago. I went on 3 different occassions to check for it and they didn't have any :( They had the chocolate cake, the tie dye cheesecake, and the worms and dirt but no twinkie tiramisu :confused3 Has anyone confirmed lately that they still have it?

We love the POP food court, so you can't go wrong there. On the other hand, MGM has amazing sandwiches at Starring Rolls. They are made in the Brown Derby. The new book, The Complete Guide to Disney World, calls SR the best CS on Disney property. I have to agree!
