late EMH's- any good experiences

I have read a lot lately about the terrible crowds at evening EMH.
We are going in this summer and were planning to use them.

We went over Easter Week this year and used them. They were great. We spent days by the pools and went at night to parks. MK was open until 3:00 am, while very late, very few people were still there between 2 and 3.

Has anyone had any good experiences lately?
Are the crowds worse than during the day? We want to avoid the heat.
Are any fastpasses running? I know test track was because we used it.

I used the EMH at MK the second week of May. It started raining about 5:00 and stopped around 9:00--just in time for Wishes. We headed to MK around 7:30 and the crowds were just pouring out! MK was not crowded at all and the evening was just magical. Pray for rain!
