Late dinner on arrival day -- Whispering Canyon or Chef Mickey???

The evening we arrive at WDW (staying at WL) I expect to arrive to the resort around 7:00 pm and was thinking of having dinner around 8:00 pm at Whispering Canyon or Chef Mickey's? Our DS is 5 and he loves corny jokes and antics so I thought he might enjoy WC. He also likes the characters, so I thought Chef Mickey's might be fun too.

A couple of things I wondered about since it will be a little late... at WC would they still be doing the entertaining stunts or does that taper off later in the evening? And also for Chef Mickey's since it's a buffet, is it the sort of thing that the food isn't as good later in the evening?

I like both but always go to whispering canyon All you can eat skilet is the best kids love it don't forget to ask for some straws

Do CM on another nite. I hate to see you get all rushed before dinner, not a great way to start of your vacation.

Just think of the unpacking! Seems to me it would be sooo much easier if you did Whispering Canyon on your first night. You'll be so much more relaxed than if you had to unpack and then head on over to the Contemporary.
As was said before, save Chef Mickey for another night. Your little one will be tired by the end of dinner.....you'd much rather just take the elevator up to your room at that point than have to head back to Wilderness Lodge after dinner.

Yes, maybe I was being too ambitious. It does sound like it would be more relaxing to just stay at WL and have dinner at WC. Does anyone know if it's still as lively there at 8:00 in the evening? In case it depends on what time of year, this will be at the end of January.

The WCC gets my vote. The food is great and so is the service. I think it will also be easier just to dine there and enjoy the lodge.

Also, if you do Chef Mickey's, do it for breakfast, as it is much, much, much better than dinner.
