Only 11 more days till we cruise!!! We are so excited about our very first disney cruise!!!!:hyper:

These boards have been sooo very helpful to me.

I have just one more question to ask! I will be cruising with DH and DS who is 4 1/2. We have late seating. DS is a night owl and stays up late especially on vacation. So, I feel that there will be no problem with him eating late. I really would like him to have dinner with us. My question is that DH and I would like to go out after dinner and have a few drinks! Has anyone dropped thier children off at the kids club that late at night??? If so, what are the activities going on?? Are all of the other children already laying on mats sleeping or watching a movie? I don't want DS to feel uncomfortable being dropped off that late if the other children are already asleep. Were your children okay with being dropped of at the club that late??? I have read on these boards that some of the kids never want to leave the clubs. But, I would like to at least have DS watch the shows and have dinner with us!
Any advise??? Please help!!!

Thanks,
Tracy

Looking at past Navigators, movie time started every night at 9:30 in the Oceaneer's Club. DS usually wanted out by then as he didn't like laying there on a mat watching a movie he could (and I quote) "watch in the comfort of his own living room."

ONE time we convinced him to stay a little later so we could catch dueling pianos at 9:45. He ended up having us paged at 10:15....that was all he could take of it. :) When we picked him up there were already sleeping children sprawled on the mats. :)

Yes Disneyrett, you are right... When you have late seating, by the time you would get your son to the club after supper, the mats would already be out....

My DS is 5, and in the 5-7 group, for example, there was one activity that was held during late seating. The very last night, Sebastian's Junkanoo Jam (all the kids dancing in Studio Sea....) DH wanted some time for ourselves, so we got DS something to eat, then dropped him off before supper....

Also, if DS is with you for both supper AND the show, then it seems likely that he would miss that evenings main activity in the Club ( decisions, decisions!!!!!)... It seems that some started as early as 7:00 - 7:15.

The Kids Club Navigators are printed out for the duration of the cruise, ( not day by day....) so this is good for planning a little in advance! :D

Like Ann just said, go print out the kids navigators for your particular cruise itenerary, and you will have a VERY good idea on what might be going on in the Kids Club!

When we cruised in June 2001 our DD was 6 and we would drop her off after dinner. She would have gone before dinner but we insisted that she have dinner with us. We also had late seating and will have the same this time (4 day 10/12/03)

Thanks for your replys!!! Still don't know what to do:confused:
Does the early show start at 6:00P.M.? What time does it end? I thought maybe after the show we can grab DS some dinner or order room service for him while we get ready for dinner, and then we'll be able to drop him off at the kids club around 8:00P.M. So he won't miss too many of the activities. At least one night I want him to have dinner with us! One night we plan to have dinner at Palo so he won't be eating with us that night. Maybe it won't be that bad not having dinner with him everynight. I just love having him with us and experiencing everything with him!!! As you can tell he's our only child. My sister says once you have another one all that will change, you will be begging for just one minute by yourself.:hyper: lol

the count down is on!!!!!

LOL!!! about the only child comment!!! :teeth:

Exact same situation here with DS!!!!

Okay... Now is the time for some serious planning... Which cruise will you be on??? On our 4-Nite, we knew that we wanted DS to see DREAMS... (which is a 'do not miss!!! especially with a child your DS age!) So, I would plan for that with your DS for sure.... So plan on the show with your DS at the least on that night.

We were all just too exhausted and DS was comatose napping on the little sofa the afternoon before the new Golden Mickeys, so we missed that one... :( But I imagine your DS would enjoy this one too.

On the restaurants... DS enjoyed the lighting up Disney Pictures 'light show' at AP... So that night you would probably want to plan for having DS at dinner with you. My DS really liked Parrot Cay... I ordered him a shirley temple tropical drink, and he loved the fun conga, or napkin waving, line! Tritons' or Lumieres' are good nights to plan on letting your DS enjoy the Club...

Here is another hint... We had mostly dropped DS off in the Club especially for the activities that we found seemed the best for him... and then usually picked him back up.... Well, guess what DS ended up enjoying almost better than the activities.... The tiny bit of FREE time that he had for just PLAYING in the club and the lab!!! So do not overlook this time! (The activities are very structured with all the children.... This free time is pretty rare!)

The shows start at 6:30.... but, just like the 6:00 dinner seating, you will want to get to the theater early... A bit after 6:00 at the latest... The shows are awesome! And a good seat will make all the difference! We had very nice seats, pretty much front and center, for DREAMS and it was just wonderful!

Hope all of this helps!

We had late seating and dropped our DS off after dinner. It really wasn't a big deal. He was happy to watch the movie. Yes, some kids were asleep on mats, but not all the kids. He actually made more friends that night than he did when the clubs were packed.

One night he was the last kid to be picked up. He didn't want to go. He had three counselors playing with him and he thought it was great to be the center of attention. Remember, if your child has a problem they can always page you.

Each kid is different, but I say relax and have some fun with your DH. :)

I had late seating and a 6 year old DD. She always had dinner with us and we took her to the club around 9:45 each night. The children were still playing (computers, dress up, etc.) and the mats were already down so they had a choice. DD was always asleep when we picked her up, but she thought it was like a sleepover/camp-out anyway:D
