Hi all,
I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, but....how late is late checkout at the resorts? 1 or 2 hours past check out time? We're staying at PO-R and just had our returning flight time changed from 2pm. to 4:10pm.

Thanks in advance....

Check-out is 11am. We were in a similar situation a few weeks ago at CBR. We called and they said that for us to stay until 4pm would have cost us HALF the rack rate for the room. HALF the rack rate for the room is what we were paying PER NIGHT with an AP discount. What we did instead is leave our luggage in the car and go to the parks..... We went back to the resort quiet pool for a swim and a change of clothes in the pool house before we left!

Typically, a late check-out is not later than 1:00 p.m. During the summer months we've only managed one late check-out in all of our trips.

Actually, a late check-out isn't really necessary with bell services storing luggage. It's just a matter of planning your day so that you have what you need to get by until departure, e.g., swimsuits if you plan to swim until departure time, park gear if you plan to spend your pre-departure time in parks.

I don't think the hotels will approve a late check-out until the evening before your departure day.

My DD wanted to do Chef Mickey, so thought about taking later flight out when we leave and doing that in morning before we leave. So we could do a late check-out or like you say--leave luggage with front Desk and then come back for them. That is all we would be doing is Chef Mickey. This is possible then?? thanks

When we travel, I actually prefer a late departure time, whether it if from WDW, a cruise or LAX. That gives us an entire day without paying for a hotel to enjoy. We check out at the usual time or earlier, pack up the car, leave additional clothing if necessary where it is accessible, and enjoy our day. Our flight from LAX was 11pm just last month. We had breakfast, checked out of our San Diego hotel, drove up the coast line, spent the afternoon at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, went to the movies, went to dinner and at 7:30pm headed back to LAX. Think of it as an extra vacation day instead of the day you have to leave.

If you can arrange a late check-out that will work for you OR, and the more likely scenario, you simply have bell services pick-up your luggage for storage, check-out, and head off to your PS. When you return simply retrieve your luggage from bell services and head to the airport.

Dawn,
I am pleased that we are leaving later. In a way, I'm glad that our itinerary was changed for us as we will now have more time at our resort. I am hoping for late checkout (hopefully 1pm.) so that we can hang at the pool and still have access to our room just in case our DS needs a nap, etc. We're not renting a car this trip, so it kind of limits where we can go before leaving for MCO. From what I've been reading on the Transportation board, we need to be at the airport 2- 1/2 to 3 hours prior to our flight, so the 1pm. checkout time is perfect.

Good, I was hoping for that. Wanted to please her and might be a fun way to end trip too. We will have to go back to hotel cuz yourride will be picking us up for trip back. Thanks again for the good answers.

Rather than go by what is posted on the Transportation board, call your airline directly. The pre arrival times have changed at many airports and it varies from airline to airline depending upon the concourse, etc. When we left for our cruise in February, we needed to be at the airport 2 1/2 to 3 hours a head, when we left for LAX in April, on April school vacation, 90 minutes was fine. The same for our return from LAX. Things change week to week. No sense wasting time at the airport when you don't need to.

Thanks, Dawn!
We're traveling in November, so hopefully we won't need to be at MCO too early. I will call the airline directly.
