DH and I are going up for a last minute weekend trip on the 28th. We will be there overnight and will fly out late on Sunday (10pm). I want to request a late checkout, we are booked on points at SSR. Is this likely to be granted? Will it "cost" anything? Do you know how late they will extend it? Thanks so much!

You have to request it of housekeeping a day or two ahead (can't remember which). It is at their discretion and is really dependent on how many people are checking in that day. At other (non-DVC) resorts, they do have a charge for late check-out, depending in what time you are leaving. I do not know what they do at DVC resorts/points reservations.

Check out time is 11 AM at all DVC resorts, the only way to stay in the room late is to reserve an extra night.

I wanted to check out later once, so used another day of points, but didn't stay overnight.

As Bill mentioned, DVC checkout is 11am. However, you may not really need a late check out as Bell services will hold your bags for you, and some resorts have a day room available where people who are checked out can still get a shower and change clothes, etc. I unfortunately don't know if SSR has the day room available. Check with the concierge desk.

Never heard of a day room....we check our luggage and head for the pool or parks. Most pools have showers and such to freshen up before the departure, we done this at BLT, VGF, BCV and AKL not sure about OKW Or SSR, but they do have gym equipment, so I assume showers there too!

We tried last year to do this our flight home was not until 7pm. No one would allow late check out. So we didn't leave our room till 11am. Checked out bags for our flights and went to the parks. I was surprised how fast the day went..

My flight next Sunday doesn't leave until 9 PM. So I did my personal "late check out" I reserved the unit until Monday morning so I didn't have to leave the room until it was time to head for the airport around 7 (Bring on the flames, I have my fire proof suit on I know I am "stealing" a unit from someone else. I have heard it all before and I don't care LOL! )

Disney has a firm policy of no late check-outs for DVC points reservations. Disney HOTELS average around 80% occupancy, leaving each resort with dozens of vacancies on most nights. That excess capacity allows them to let some guests stay late every day.

Disney Vacation Club is a timeshare, which tends to have much higher occupancy levels. Generally speaking, timeshare resorts operate very close to 100% occupancy and the only time rooms are left vacant is when owners are not using their points--points which cost a rather handsome sum to acquire.

With those extremely high occupancy levels, they need all outgoing guests to vacate the rooms so they can be cleaned and prepped for an incoming guest later that same day.

Failing to vacate a room by 11am often means that some incoming guest will not receive their room by 4pm as promised. Unless you happen to run into a Cast Member who bucks policy, a late check-out will not be granted.

We were at SSR last month. I had read that some here mentioned late checkout so I decided to call and ask the night before we left. They were very nice but no late checkout was given. So sorry they said. It turned out OK. We had a split stay and were going to OKW where our room was ready early.

Really - you get flamed for booking an extra night? That's just wrong. :sad2: :sad2:

Sorry if it happened on the DVC Forums. :o:o I don't recall any flames on that subject, but I confess that I don't read every thread - just the ones that look like trouble ;) or the ones that interest me. :teeth:

Why would anyone flame you for that? You paid for the room. Spending your points for that extra day reduces your point balance and leaves a night open that you could have booked at some other time. It all balances out.

Sorry for my bad initial answer, folks. For some reason, I thought you could still request it at DVC from housekeeping. Apparently not according to everyone else's comments.

When doing online check in today, there was a statement regarding "if you need a late checkout..." so I would have thought that was a possibility too.

The MCO Hyatt Regency ( in the airport) has a day room available. I've used this service a few times there.

We always just book an extra night for a late check out. So relaxing having the room until we leave.

As everyone has said DVC do not allow late check out

Not at a DVC resort it isn't allowed

Online check n was designed for the resorts and used by DVC not designed for DVC
