Late checkout on marathon day

Does anyone have experience with this? Am I going to have a huge issue? Staying at AKL, looking to check out around 4:15pm. Hopefully in one piece.

I normally get very emotional on the Magical Express Bus, but I suspect this time will be ridiculous.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but we did this one year when we stayed at the Poly. As I they could not take the request until the day of the late checkout; we called at midnight as they can only have a limited number of late checkouts per day and we wanted to make sure we got one. However, we were only able to push it back until I think 1:30, which really is not very much time after the marathon.

I've traditionally been hard pressed as well to get much more than maybe two hours past normal checkout time for a late checkout.. if I'm not mistaken, 4:15 would actually go past (or very near) check in for the following day, so it may not work in that respect.. if not, I would suggest checking out and leveraging baggage services to store the bags until you're ready to leave. The hotels have surely seen this scenario before, so I'm guessing they must have decent options in place by now.

Most housekeepers leave at 4, so keeping the room until 4:15 would mean they can't turn it over for another guest.

WDW late check-out policy:
Check out before 1: no charge
Check out b/w 1-3: half night charge
Check out after 3: full night charge.

These are calculated as rack rates, not discounted in any way.

Subject to availability/housekeeping staffing/occupancy for following night. You should contact housekeeping the night before for approval.

If they can't hold the room, you can leave your belongings with Bell Services. I'm not sure if there's a locker room by the pool that you could use to freshen up?

Assuming you are not in the Villas, which are 100% no late check outs.

I aagree with everyone that 4:00 would be too late, but you are lucky with AKL in terms of showers. There are full showers in the bathrooms by the pool for Jambo House and a shower by the gym near the pool at Kidani. Both are very nice and would work if you need to clean up and change. I am sure bell services will hold your bags for you the day of check out so you would have a safe place for your stuff. I hope this helps.
