Has anyone ever paid extra for a late check out? Do they do this at Disney? Since our plan leaves later in the day, I thought we might try this if it is possible.

You can request a late check out (which is 1:00 at a Disney resort) - anything after that I believe you would have to pay for another night.

I heard you can call the desk that morning and ask to stay. If no one else is coming in, they'll let you stay until 1 at no extra charge.

I checked into this a few weeks ago. The CM I talked to told me that you could get a complimentary late check out up to l:00 pm. For a charge of 50% of the room rate, you could stay until 3:00 pm, after that it is a full room rate charge. Our plane doesn't leave until 8:20 pm and we will have a 3 yr old with us, so I am going to "bite the bullet" and pay for the extra night in order to have the room until we depart. In the July heat, I think it will be worth it.

I have always had a late check out and did not have to pay for it. Usually it is until 1:00 p.m.

When I checked into this last year, if you request late check out during your stay, the extra charges are based on rack rate, and not any discounted rate you may have paid. If you're already planning on paying for an extra day it would be cheapest to make it part of your original reservation (you may have done this already, but in case you hadn't I wanted to warn you about the rack rate charge).

Probably the reason for the charge is because of the late stay until 3:00 which is usually check in time which the next guest will not be able to do because the room has to be cleaned.

What resort are u staying at because to save money maybe u could spend your last night at pop and then wouldn't have to pay nearly as much for the room that u won't be using.

The hotels usually let you stay until 1:00. Personally, I would not pay the extra for a 2 hours. I would stay until 1:00 and then hang either at a park, Downtown Disney or the hotel and have a nice dinner and visit the shops until it's time to go. Don't forget, you are still entitled to use of the shuttle buses to get around until you leave.

DVC resorts do not have late check out at all.

We're staying at Beach Club in June. The CM at central reservations said that on check out day we could use the BC facilities, except for the room of course, until our flight out later that evening. My question is this: Will our room card still open the parking lot gate for the remainder of the day or is it automatically de-activated at 11:00 AM, official check out time? Have any of you ever done this or something similar?

Thanks for the heads up on that. I have already extended my reservation on a AAA discount room. Hoping I can get a better rate if/when AP codes come out in (maybe) May and maybe not have to pay quite as much. I realize that it will be expensive to keep the room, but I have been at WDW in July and I know how hot it is going to be and the thought of not having that room available makes me cringe.

Your Key to the World card remains valid for all its purposes (minus room) until midnight on your day of check out. You may still charge, and use it to open gates. If your tickets are on there, they will work too.

A note on late check outs -- NEVER EVER EVER count on getting one, ESPECIALLY a later one. Even during slow times, there is a VERY good chance that your request will be denied.
