Hello,
We will be going to DisneyWorld for 6 nights with two children 4 and 18 months. Our flight the day we leave isn't until 7:30 p.m. and the kids need naps. Do you know if there is any way to request late checkout, can you pay for it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Lesley

If it is avalaible they will usually allow you to stay until 12-1pm at no charge. It is after that that they will begin chargin in incraments depending on how long you stay. Most of the hotels will advise you to contact Housekeeping as they have to check the occupancy and see if they have the avalaiblity to extend your check out without interfering with those that are arriving that day.

Thanks. Do you have any idea how much they charge in those increments you mentioned. If we could have it until 3-4 that day it would be IDEAL and I wouldn't mind paying about 20-30 dollars for that, just couldn't afford much more with everything else we'll be buying. So will I not be able to find out until the day we check out? Has anyone done this and had success?
Thanks,
Lesley

We were told that anything after 1 pm would be charged as another night. I would be curious to know as well.

My hotel currently does not offer late checks out at all... I am at OKW (none of the Home away from Homes...DVC resorts...offer it because of the size of the rooms and time it takes to clean). So I am not sure of the current charges. When I was at a regular resort (about 3 years ago) it was free until 1pm and then from 1-3 was 25% of your room rate, 3-5 was 50% of your room rate and after 5pm was full charge. I know this has since changed but can not tell you acuratley what it is now. You could try PM'ing Chip 'n Dale Express (from the transportation boards)... he was at Pop Century for awhile and I know he has the current rates (he's the only one I know that would have the current info).

We resort hop a lot, that is spend our vacations in two different resorts. The only times we have ever been able to get a late check-out is when we have stayed concierge level and that only until 1 pm. Even the time my son was sick, they would not give us late check-out, that is unless we wanted to pay for a full night which I didn't want to do as it was around $300. This, obviously, is just my experience, but that is why these boards are here to get opinions. You may have luck with this, but I would not expect it. Better to plan that it won't happen and if it does it will be a pleasant surprise.

My situation was exactly your in May 2003. We were staying at AS Movies I did go ahead and book an extra night because of the same reason (naps). When checking out the Cm noticed that I was leaving at 2:30pm to ge to airport. She comented that she hoped nothing was wrong that we were leaving a day early. I explained the reasoning. She made a note in the system and guess what? Disney being the wounderful place that it is did not charge my Credit Card with the extra day. I really do love those Cm's. I am not sure If I had paid in cash if a refund would have come my way. We used the Disney Visa for payment. The CM also explained that if it is not peak season and the resort is not booked up a later check out is always available. I too was leary and wanted to be guaranteed(a late check out can not be requested till you check in) so the extra day was worth it. I guess it all worked out for me I hope the same for you.

This is what we have experienced a couple times when we have asked for and gotten late check out. In fact, once we got the late check out, did not leave until about 4 and then ended up not getting charged anything at all.

We just got a late check out on Jan. 2, until 1:00pm at the Boardwalk and that was free, then it went up in increments depending how late you stayed (a percentage of the rate) just like Libertybelle stated. They do check to see how crowded the resort is before they allow the late check out.

Thanks. I guess I'll be hopeful. I would rather pay the increments to assure a stay until 4, I am assuming by your responses they won't let me do that until we get there though because it will depend on their availability. Thanks so much.

I just called Pop Century and was told exactly what you guys had been saying. If I stay until 4 o'clock I will be charged 1/2 of my rack room rate, which currently is the full 99, so I guess it would be about 50 dollars with tax. Would be GREAT if we have a nice CM checking us out who won't charge us, but I won't count on it. I think 50 bucks is worth paying to give our two little one's naps before being on a plane for three hours and not arriving until 10:30 p.m.
Thanks,
Lesley
