Now, please, no flames! I KNOW that me checking out late will make it so somebody can't get their room early, but sometimes, you gotta do whatcha gotta do! :confused3

The last day of our stay, we won't be leaving for the airport until 6 PM. Can we arrange a late check-out so my DS 2 1/2 could get a nap and/or take it easy before we head home?

Can/how/where do I arrange this? Is there a cost involved?

When I inquired about this, I was told that "late check outs are not permitted in the villas."

No flames, but no late checkout either. Checkout is 11 AM and you can expect housekeeping to be knocking on your door much earlier than that. With nearly 100% occupancy, any lateness in checking out really bogs down the system and inconveniences incoming guests and CMs who have to deal with the resulting issues.

You can, of course, store your luggage with the bellmen, but that won't help your nap situation.

The only alternative, really, is to book another night and just leave early when it's time for your flight.

Which is why I say thank God it can't be done! I'd hate to get my room even later because someone's kid needed a nap.

We always leave before dawn on the day we check out so someone is getting their room early assuming Housekeeping will clean right after we leave. I very much appreciate getting our room early so I pass it on in that fashion.

Yeah. We usually load the car up and are out of the room before 9, often before 8 on the last day, for the same reason. I call and let them know we're out.

Me too, always stressful since DW is always down to the last second.:confused3

If you are worried about a nap....just sleep in that day. Let the little one sleep until the last minute. It shouldn't take long to get them dressed. You can have everything sent down to be stored.

Many of the resorts have lounge areas with couchs, and tvs . Beach Club had a large number of them. My family took a nap there the afternoon of our last day ( and we were not the only ones!!)

I often see people (adult & kids) dozing off in Papa's Den at OKW.

Sorry, late check outs are not allowed, even if the resort isn't booked up.

At the Boardwalk in the afternoon its the Bellevue Lounge. Or grab a pool chair (plenty of sunscreen and perhaps a towel for shade).

Another idea is, if you are doing a park day (and with not leaving til six, I'd be tempted, is to take either a monorail nap - or a stroller nap while wandering the World Showcase at Epcot.

Lastly, if you feel strongly about a nap and you don't have a little one who will stroller or pool nap, you can book a dayroom at the Hyatt MCO or another hotel near the airport.

You would actually need to book as an extra night stay and then you could use the room till you left at 6 pm. Other than that there is no late checkout at any of the DVC resorts.

what a great idea! never thought of it, thanks:thumbsup2

We usually book an additional day. We just have problems getting up and out first thing in the morning no matter how organized I am the night before. So, we just always book one additional night and leave early evening. I know not everyone can afford an extra night, but if you are doing a two bedroom, see if you can get a lock off and just book the studio portion for that last night. With our 3 children, it has just always been worth the extra $$ for that last night. Now if we were at the Poly or Grand Floridan, I don't know what I would do.

THis is exactly what we are doing. We are traveling with our 2 granddaughters 3 and 11 months. Last August is was awful changing rooms from OKW to BCV. We were out of the room at 11, but didn't get our BCV room until 5:30PM. So this year we booked an extra day at BWV. Yes it will cost me another 13 points for a room we will use for naps only. We again are changing rooms and don't want to be roomless, so there will be an empty room that night. I suggest the OP do the same thing. Last year the girls were 2 years old and 3 months and it was hard trying to take care of a 3 month old without a room for 5 hours. Just trying to find a place to warm up her bottle was a nightmare. We learned our lesson.

What a great solution! Those of us who don't have little ones to worry about forget about those time lags, and while there are NO LATE check outs at DVC (nor should there be), there are ways around the "problem". I might also suggest in the future booking an earlier flight home if possible. We always check out early on check out day and often fly late in the day. We just get up and out early so they can get the room ready for the next guest, and we head to the parks for a day of fun. We always return to the resort before heading to the airport, but just to claim luggage or rental car, etc.

If you want to book the room for an extra night, can you do it with cash instead of using your points?

Thanks for the feedback! DH and I are too big of tightwads to use points on a room we're not going to sleep in so it looks like it's a no-go. We're going to go ahead with our plan of a day at the parks and hope that it poops DS out so bad, he'll konk out on the plane! :scared:

He's not much of a stroller napper otherwise, I wouldn't give this a thought in the world!

BTW, what's a day room?

A day room is a room at the Hyatt you aren't going to stay in overnight. They are really popular with cruisers - who get off the ship at 8am and sometimes don't fly out until 6pm. They Hyatt then cleans the room when you check out, and turns it over to someone flying in at 10pm (the Hyatt MCO gets a lot of people in rooms for a really short time, so they are functionally booking the room twice in a day - once to someone who will check in around 11am and check out by 4pm, once to someone flying in at 8pm who will check out by 9am to get on a cruise, then again the next day to someone checking in at 11 again.)
