Late check in?

I have a question. Our flight land at 8:45pm and we will take magical express. Do I need to contact the resort and let them know we will be checking in late? Approx. 10:30pm? Thanks!

We were on that same schedule this past December and we didn't call ahead. Actually, when we arrived (at SSR) the lobby was very quiet and our room was (of course) ready right away. On all our other trips we arrived at around noon and at that time of day the lobbys are always very busy with lines at the desk - only once were we lucky enough to have our room be ready early. So for us, arriving late worked out pretty well. We got a good night's sleep and were up and out to EPCOT early the next morning!

Thank you for responding so quickly! Did you use magical express? If so, about what time did your luggage get delivered to your room? I know another option would be for us to gather our own luggage. Is there a certain time where they stop delivering luggage to the rooms? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks for the help

Yes we did use ME but we didn't check any bags - we were only there for 5 days so we each just had a carryon.

In 2005 we arrived close to midnight the DE was waiting for us outside it was very smooth and quiet because no crowded lines you dont wait. When we arrived about midnight at the hotel no lines either the room was ready and we went directly to bed...We are planning to do the same thing....next Nov

Did you pick up your luggage or have it delivered to the room? I am getting in a midnight and thought it may be easier to pickup my own luggage becasue I dont want to wait for my bags.

If you pick up your luggage, you WILL have to wait at the airport - thus delaying both your DME departure and your arrival at your resort and, ultimately, your room.

Common wisdom suggests packing in one's carry-on whatever items will be needed for the first 24 hours at the destination in case checked luggage is misdirected by the airline.

You can call, sure - but two things. First, you will get a central switchboard, not the hotel, even if you call what's indicated as the hotel's direct line.

Second, and much more important - your one-night deposit (on a room-only reservation) or your payment in full for your Magic Your Way package guarantees your room until 6 the next morning.
